Llooks premium on the outside but feels mediocre on the inside

The Samsung Gear Sport is nice and pretty at first glance, but it hides too many weak points at closer inspection. It's a red herring.

PhoneArena

An option worth considering

from PhoneArena

It is good-looking, it is fast and responsive, it has a great display, it lasts sufficiently long between charges, and it is durable enough to withstand some seriously wet exercises. On top of this, the addition of Spotify with offline listening support is more than welcome.

Wired

One of the best smartwatch interfaces

from Wired

Samsung’s $300 Gear Sport has grown on me the more I’ve worn it. The rotating bezel gives this wearable, by far, the easiest-to-learn smartwatch interface around. Like most of these “smart” watches, the Sport doesn’t do a ton, but what it does, it does well.

Middle of the road

If you’re interested in a device that offers a fully-fledged smartwatch experience with an emphasis on fitness, then the Gear Sport certainly delivers. If you’re more interested in a smartwatch that fits every outfit you’re wearing and also has fitness options, then the Gear S3 might be a better pick.

Solid set of fitness-related features

Fitness tracking remains the number one purpose wearables wearers have for their wrist-mounted gadget, Samsung’s research says, and seen through that lens the Gear Sport ticks all the right health boxes. If you’re a health devotee, there’s plenty here to keep you on track whatever your goals.

Android Police

A smartwatch regular people might actually buy

from Android Police

The Samsung Gear Sport is an amazing smartwatch—possibly the best one you can buy right now. The design is distinctive, yet understated enough to fit in a business or casual setting. This device is light and more compact than most smartwatches. It doesn't look cartoon-ish on my small wrists, and even those with bigger wrists should find it's a good size. It's really in the sweet spot.

The company's best smartwatch yet

from Android Central

The new Gear Sport is not only a great successor to 2015's Gear S2, but also Samsung's best ever all-around smartwatch. It manages to be notably smaller and lighter than the Gear S3, while keeping nearly all of its capabilities.

Good at the basics, but lacks excitement

from The Verge

If all you’re looking for from a smartwatch is to relay phone notifications to your wrist and count your steps, the Gear Sport does deliver, and it does that well no matter what phone you pair it to. It has reliable battery life that easily lasted me a full day every day I wore the watch, with a little to spare when I went to bed at night.
