Top Ten Reviews

A good choice for those who prefer listening to bass-heavy music

from Top Ten Reviews
A sleek wireless speaker that produces strong bass. We weren't partial to listening to acoustic or jazz music on this speaker, as it doesn’t have the treble clarity to make that type of music sound crisp. It mostly shined during heavy bass-driven music. Overall, its sound quality isn't as impressive as its physical appearance... Full review
Sound Vision Review

A feast for both eyes and ears

from Sound Vision Review
We were surprised and amazed at how good it actually sounded. The Aura seems to have a subtlety that other speakers in this category usually do not have. Music played at all volume levels sounded balanced, and the effect of the 360-degree sound worked wonderfully... Full review

Very good overall sound quality

from PCWorld
We are very much impressed by this wireless speaker and think its sound quality will be good enough to satisfy most tastes. The design is funky, the controls are minimal (there are soft-touch buttons for power and input selection, while the volume control is a series of bumps that illuminates a series of LEDs in the centre of the speaker), and it’s easy to set up and use (especially if you use Bluetooth)... Eccentric design

from NDTV
The Harman Kardon is selling for a discount on Harman's official website. We don't think its performance warrants even that... Full review

Great-looking, great-sounding, one-piece wireless speaker system

from PC Magazine
The Harman Kardon Aura combines a very attractive, unique look with excellent performance and a plethora of connection options. Its $400 price tag is pretty steep. But with both AirPlay and Bluetooth support and a sound that rivals the Marshall Stanmore in a smaller, less retro-looking package, it's an excellent choice for a one-piece wireless sound system and a clear Editors' Choice. If you'd prefer a less powerful, more portable speaker, the Bose SoundLink III is still one of the best battery-powered models out there... Full review
What Hi-Fi

A stunning looking speaker, but one that doesn’t have the ‘wow’ sound or usability to boot

from What Hi-Fi
Had this test been all about looks, this speaker would have bagged five stars – no problem. A stylish showpiece for any room, it’s sure to catch a few eyes, turn a few heads and steal a few hearts. Unfortunately for the Aura we’re not that shallow. And when sound comes into play, we’re less than inspired. If you’re only looking for background entertainment, it will deliver. But it needs more clarity, with rivals topping the leader board within this price point doing more – and doing it better... Full review
Pocket-lint

Space-age design looks great, excellent sound quality at all volumes

from Pocket-lint

Space-age looks deliver a sound that's grounded in the here and now: the Harman Kardon Aura is an immensely capable wireless home speaker, whatever genre you throw at it.

In terms of audio quality this is a full-marks product. The only reason it doesn't achieve that accolade is simple: there are connectivity and volume issue foibles that, at least from our MacBook Pro and tested over two separate products to verify the issue, aren't good enough from a high-spec product such as this. Whether other users will replicate this volume issue we cannot verify, and do note it's only been... Full review

Sound is very rich in all frequencies, and can be really loud

from MacReview
No matter if your play music through the Lightning port or via AirPlay, sound quality will remain the same. Sound is very rich in all frequencies, and can be really loud. Inside Z2 there are two 3.5inch drivers and two 20Watt amplifiers. You will also notice some bass, which is in pair with the small size of this speaker... Full review
