Apple has just unveiled their new iPhone 3G S at the WWDC today, and while it doesn’t offer up anything new in terms of over-all design, it stands to be the most featured packed iPhone to date.

Apart from running on the latest and greatest iPhone OS 3.0, a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with 30fps video recording and on-device editing, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, built-in compass, voice control, Nike+ compatibility, and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support are all on-board as well. Its battery was also upgraded to provide up to 9 hours data on Wifi (up from 6 hours), 30 hours audio (up from 24 hours), 10 hours video (up from 7 hours), and 12 hours talk/data time on a 2G connection (up from 10 hours). It also comes with a faster processor. Rumors point to an 800MHz processor (up from 400MHz) but this is yet to be confirmed. Likewise, the top of the line is now a 32GB iPhone, but no mention was made about a 4GB variant.

The iPhone 3G S will be available in 16GB and 32GB models for $199 and $299 respectively on-contract, of course, starting June 19 in the US. It'll hit 80 more countries thereafter with Rogers being the likely candidate to offer it up in Canada. Sure, it looks every bit the same as the current iPhone 3G as far as aesthetics goes, but with a ton of new features, the iPhone 3G S seems to be worth it in the end.
