The New York Times has a surprise for everyone expecting a GPhone or Google Phone later this year. Google will not be making any actual hardware. What Google is busy about is software, particularly an OS that will rival Windows Mobile and a suite of wireless services that will be monetized through advertising.
There is potentially huge revenues for Google waiting at Web 3.0. Its main obstacle are the wireless networks, whose own suite of wireless services Google will be competing with.
