Samsung has pulled the said upgrade due to reports of inaccessible internal storage problems after running the Froyo upgrade using the Kies desktop software. It’s not exactly the result many were looking forward to after going through the whole tedious process, which is probably why they're not taking this issue lightly and immediately removed it from public availability.
Here’s their official statement on the matter:
There have been intermittent issues reported during the firmware upgrade process with Kies for the Samsung Galaxy S i9000M series of phones. Samsung's development team is currently aware of this issue and working towards a solution. Accordingly, The firmware update feature, which affects the ability to upgrade to Android 2.2, is temporarily disabled until a solution is released. We apologize for the inconvenience.
As such, it’s possible that the Froyo upgrade for Rogers’ Galaxy S Captivate and Telus’ Galaxy S Fascinate will be delayed even further because of this issue. Unless, of course, it’s only carrier related which we highly doubt.
