Google Nexus S

The much talked about Nexus S (erstwhile called the Nexus Two) is finally official.

Google’s follow up to their first ever mobile phone offering, the Nexus One, sports a 4-inch 480x800 resolution Super AMOLED contoured display, 5-megapixel AF camera with flash, 720x480 video recording, VGA front-facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support, WiFi (b/g/n), 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, 900/2100/1700MHz tri-band HSPA connectivity, 16GB internal memory and a 1GHz processor running at the core with Android 2.3 Gingerbread as its OS.

It’ll be released to the public in the US (T-Mobile and Best Buy) after December 16 and scheduled to make it European debut in the UK (Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse) on the 20th. No word yet about Canada. As for its pricing, Best Buy in the US is offering it up for $199 with a 2-year T-Mobile contract or $549 unlocked.

As for the latest version of Android, Gingerbread feature video calling support, one-touch word selection and copy/paste, control over applications, mixable audio effects, NFC support, improved battery management, and improvements to its UI “for simplicity and speed.

Google is still mum though on when they plan to roll out Gingerbread to other Android phones, but we’re certainly hoping it’ll happen before the first half of 2011 comes to a close.
