Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant

Got a Galaxy S smartphone just waiting to get Froyo-flavored? If so, then this bit of news should be music to your ears. Samsung has just posted a note on their Facebook page listing the roll out schedule for the Android 2.2 update for specific Galaxy S models over in Canada.

Here’s what’s posted over there:

We’d like to acknowledge the tremendous interest in the Froyo (Android 2.2) upgrade for Galaxy S series smartphones in Canada. We are working diligently to provide a tested and secure upgrade experience in Canada. Android 2.2 will be released for Vibrant from Bell and Captivate from Rogers in mid-December, and for the Fascinate from TELUS in early 2011. We’ll post further details as they become available.

So, there you have. The lucky subscribers who signed up with Bell (Vibrant) and Rogers (Captivate) will be getting their Froyo update first in mid-December followed by Telus (Fascinate) in early 2011.

This may not be an official announcement through the standard channels, but nonetheless, still a noteworthy one to say the least.
