Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S, but contrary to the previous report, didn’t happen simultaneously in 110 countries. It only got launched in Europe today though they did promise that it'll be available in the US later this year.

They’ve also disclosed in their press release that they’ve got “over 100 mobile operators across the globe” who have chosen to get the Samsung Galaxy S as part of their line-up. Sadly though, they didn’t go much into detail as to who these mobile operators are and from what countries they’re from. However, given that Samsung is a well recognized brand in Canada, the big three (Rogers, Bell, and Telus) will mostly likely offer this one up locally unless, of course, one of them gets an exclusive contract for the Galaxy S. Pricing, unfortunately, was also left out in the announcement.

The Samsung Galaxy S (aka Samsung GT-i9000) is the company’s newest top dog in their collection. It features a 1GHz processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with mDNIe, 5-megapixel autofocus camera with 720p HD video recording, WiFi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS, Android 2.1, and will be available in 8GB and 16GB variants.
