Most of the new breed of Android phones already runs on Android 2.1, but unfortunately, there are still some such as the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 that don’t. Fret not, however, as Sony Ericsson has officially announced that they will be releasing an appropriate update before 2010 comes to a close.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10

An Android 2.1 update is scheduled to roll out in Q4 for the entire XPERIA X10 family (X10, X10 Mini, and X10 Mini Pro). Aside from the latest version of Android, the update will also include an upgrade to the proprietary UXP interface used in the XPERIA X10 as well as HD video recording capabilities similar to the one used in the Sony Ericsson Vivaz, wireless home connectivity via DLNA, and improvements to its signature Timscape and Mediascape apps. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Android phone is currently available on Rogers while both the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro have yet to hit the Canadian market though rumor has it that Rogers will release these phones in the country possibly next month.
