A pair of decently sounding headphone to use while on their daily commute or even in the office

The Sony WH-CH700N are a watered down version of the Sony WH-1000XM3, and in that spirit, offers a simpler feature set. The headphones have a more neutral sound which can be tweaked from the app. While you get good sound and great battery life, you lose out the touch-sensitive controls and the ability to customise the level of noise cancellation. For the price though, its a fair trade-off.

Wireless noise cancellation for the masses

from BGR

The WH-CH700N offers a balanced sound-stage that does justice to wide array of audio but every time you listen to bass heavy music, the headphone owns it, as if the musician created them with these pair of headphones in mind. The WH-CH700N offers a balanced sound-stage that does justice to wide array of audio but every time you listen to bass heavy music, the headphone owns it, as if the musician created them with these pair of headphones in mind. The noise cancellation is not as dynamic as that of premium 1000XM3 but it works most of the time. It is also comfortable to wear with leakage of sound only happening when the volume is turned up to its highest level.

What Hi-Fi

Wireless, noise-cancelling Sony headphones for just £100

If you are considering the WH-CH700Ns as a solution for everyday, general use - something for your Spotify playlists on the morning commute - then they’re certainly capable of that. For a more sophisticated performance with these kind of specs, though, your best option seems to be spending a few more pounds.

Sound Guys

Not the best, not the worst noise cancelling cans

from Sound Guys

If you want a pair of noise cancelling headphones but aren’t enticed by the Bose ecosystem, Sony is a great competitor. Its flagship headphones reign king within the ANC space, and the WH-CH700N is a lightweight, portable set of headphones with a fine microphone for those who frequently telecommute to work.

Great sound and battery life, average noise cancelling

Sony has done a commendable job at creating the WH-CH700N as close to the more expensive WH-1000XM3 as possible without compromising on a lot of features simply to keep the price down. The WH-CH700N offers great comfort and an attractive sound quality that make it worth buying at Rs 12,990. What makes it a no-brainer is the added bonus that you also get a long-lasting battery life, so you won't need to reach for the charger frequently. The only feature about the headset that will disappoint you is the noise cancelling, which is pretty average and doesn't quite meet up to the 1000XM3.

Apart from being technologically up-to-date in terms of codec and format support, the headset offers an acceptable level of noise cancellation, easy-to-use controls, and very good sound for the price. Furthermore, its battery life is excellent, although the slow charging may be a downer for anyone with heavy usage. The only real flaw is its somewhat boring look and feel, but this is entirely forgivable given the sound quality and price.

The WH-CH700N has clearly learnt a few tricks from its more expensive sibling and is our pick as the noise cancellation headphone under the Rs15,000 price point.
