Over-ear headphones with Bluetooth 5 and adaptive noise cancelling

from Headphonecheck.com

Sennheiser is upgrading the PXC-500 and reducing the price by 50 Euros. We were convinced by the functionality as well as the handling and the sound, which makes these all-round high-quality over-ear headphones great for everyday mobile and office use.

Left all the good bits and subtly upgraded them

In terms of sound quality and ANC, these really challenge the Sony WH-1000XM3, Bose 700, well exceed the Bose QC35 II. I think they are a better buy for a traveller. And it is not far off the Momentum 3 – a great recommendation.

The PXC 550-II are decent over-ear headphones for mixed usage. They're quite comfortable and their ANC blocks a good amount of ambient noise, making them great for commuting or using in the office. They're also very stable and breathe well for over-ear headphones, making them a good choice if you prefer the fit of over-ears at the gym. They also have a fairly well-balanced sound profile that's well-suited for a wide variety of genres and content.

Balanced, enjoyable sound

There’s definitely more audio excitement to be had from a pair of Sennheiser Momentum Wireless, but the PXC 550-II do plenty of good work in a more understated manner. And they don’t yell ‘look at me!’ quite so much when you’re wearing them, either. It’s a fine line between ‘dull’...More

And they don’t yell ‘look at me!’ quite so much when you’re wearing them, either. It’s a fine line between ‘dull’ and ‘sophisticated’ sometimes - and these latest Sennheisers fall just on the right side of it.

Relaxed/neutral sound signature

Overall, the PXC 550-II is a great noise cancelling choice for those who care more about functionality and practicality than luxurious sound quality. Nothing it does is too overwhelming or in-your-face, but it gets the job done.

With it’s familiar design features and impressive, upgraded sound, the PXC 550 II feels poised to usher plenty of new, would-be-audiophiles into the Sennheiser camp.  While this stellar earphone may seem mired in the shade of the more fashionable Momentum 3, its reserved good looks and no-nonsense dedication to premium audio will snag plenty of listeners – hook, line, and sinker.
