Sound Guys

More polished in almost every way

from Sound Guys

Though the new X4's have the IPX7 rating that these are missing, the Jaybird X3's were still the 'buds to beat for roughly two years and are still a pretty solid pair of workout headphones.

The Jaybird X3 headphones have a comfy, customizable fit, and can really take a beating. They stay put during workouts, sound great, and offer an eight-hour battery life that will get you through more than a week of hour-a-day workouts.

RTINGS

Great sports headphones that are versatile enough for everyday casual use

from RTINGS

They block a surprising amount of ambient noise, they're compact, stable and have a decent sound quality that's customizable thanks to the MySound app support. They don't outperform the Jaybird X2 but they're a bit easier to use and have a better design and overall build quality.

Not bad balance at all, with nice impactful sound

The proprietary connector not withstanding, the Jaybird X3 in-earphones are surprisingly good, offering a solid sound, some great customisation, and enough tips to make anyone happy. We’d say the Jaybird X3 are likely targeted at Bose’s SoundSport Wireless, and while we think Bose has the edge, Jaybird’s earphones are well worth a look, particularly if you like to save a little bit of money and still want a pair of earphones with impact.

A darn good recommendation for personal gym music

I’m not fond of the proprietary connection since I use earphones everywhere, not just going to the gym and back, so I can’t just leave the dongle in my book bag.  But I can understand for Jaybird to have this design, it was a must.  The carrying case I wasn’t fond of as well as it’s quite cumbersome, but considering everything that is new on these earphones, from the fit to the sound signature, and more importantly, this crazy entry price point for it’s performance, this is for going to be one of my highly recommended sport earphones for awhile.

The most durable workout headphones

If you sweat a lot or beat up your headphones, the X3 can take it. But you’ll have a trickier fit setup and a proprietary charger to contend with.

Didn't really impress us in any aspect

The Jaybird X3 Sport doesn't quite live up to their name as great athletic earbuds. There are a number of models that perform better and cost less.

What Hi-Fi

Good for fitness freaks, but only decent for the rest of us

The Jaybird X3s have some clever features that stop them from being prone to water damage or being ripped out of your ears. As such, they’re good for active types. Their sound quality is solid and energetic, but a richer sound can be found for less money.
