Quickly closing the gap between style and sound

from TechRadar

The Beats Solo 2 Wireless headphones look great, feel great and sound great. Sure, you can get better-sounding cans for this price, but with Beats you're ultimately paying for fashion. Thankfully, the gap between style and substance is now smaller than ever.

It's not over priced; its handsome yet understated design will not overly narrow its appeal; a wide color selection allows for a little personal expression; its well built and the folding features allow for compact storage and transport; good efficiency and isolation make for a good general purpose portable headphone; and last but not least it sounds very good for a sealed, on-ear headphone.

Sound proved to be well-balanced and at no time did feel overpowered by the bass

The big question is, should you buy these headphones? If you value fashion, build quality and premium sound, absolutely -- they are highly recommended. However, frugal consumers that could not care less how headphones look and only care about the music can probably do better with something like the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. My advice? Spend the money on the Solo2. If you average the cost over the many years you will own it, any savings will be negligible.

Steps up its design and sound

from Cnet

Beats has been gradually updating its product line after severing its partnership with Monster in early 2012. It's moved away from its bloated-bass roots and staked out a more refined sound while upping the build-quality of its headphones (that said, while they seem sturdier, they're still a mostly all-plastic design)...

These Solo 2 may not win audiophile hearts and ears, but for its intended audience -- namely, folks who are looking for a fast, exciting headphone with lots of high-quality bass -- this is an excellent on-ear headphone.

If you’re looking for everyday walkaround headphones, the Beats Solo 2 are hard to beat. They’re good-looking, they sound plenty good enough for most users, and they’re very comfortable. A variety of color options sweetens the pie, too. If you don’t care about fashion, you can find cheaper headphones that offer similar performance, but Beats has done an admirable job of earning up to their popularity this time around.

Redesigned for the better

from Chip Chick

Will the Solo2 continue the reign of the original Solo? I think they will. These are solid headphones that even picky cynics will agree have grown-up. The available color choices are fun too and so is the new redesigned look. The Solo2 will definitely continue to attract that juicy Beats demographic.

Improved sound with reliable grip good for exercise

from TrustedReviews

Beats is continually improving its headphones, and the Beats Solo 2 are better than the Solo HD in a few respects. However, the continued bass-centric approach limits their appeal among fans of good sound.
