This phone is the bottom of the barrel. Virgin Mobile has crippled this phone so they can nickle and dime you to death on transferring photos and ringtones etc. If it had not been crippled, this phone could easily have been set up to sync contacts and transfer media. It's almost like you didn't even buy the phone since you have to pay to manipulate the data on the device. It is more like you are a tenant of the phone and Virgin is sticking you for more rent every time you turn around. The pictures the device takes are uberlow quality and the ringtones, games and graphics available from Virgin leave a whole lot to be desired. I don't recommend this phone unless you are living on a shoestring budget. Less

I don't talk on the phone a lot so I basically have a phone for emergencies and on the rare occasion that I do need to make a call (I've been using it more lately). This is a fantastic phone for just that: making calls and the occasional txt. I do need to note that it has a bit of a more limited signal than some previous VM phones I've owned. I have used Virgin Mobile for probably 5 years or so with a quick fling on my family's plan with sprint and after that I used a Net One phone for about 2 months (sucky service where I'm at). It's got a long battery life (I charge it once, maybe twice, a month depending on how much I use it). One other problem was that it had a problem connecting to the Virgin XL feature so that I could download ringtones and such when I first got it. Lately this hasn't been a problem. It's really thin and even has a camera (though it's not a very good one). If you want a basic phone this is pretty good. Of course the problem is I could probably have gotten a similarly great phone for much cheaper than the $50 I paid about 9 months ago. The only reason I'm switching phones now is that I want one with a keyboard that I can use internet and email on. This one says you can use internet but I've never tried since the connection is so slow. Also, the phone gets hot if you're on it for a long call (on hold or something). The VM service itself is great though. Less

I have the red one just ordered when they went up on line at the 49 price as well: I'm more than thrilled to find out all the features with this upgrade and my friends say my pix look great sent to them on other carriers no problems. I had no idea it has speaker phone too so plus there. I'm very happy w/ the price and knowing I have a 1 year free wnty replacement or if I lose it only 7.99 to replace it during that year. I know these things.... I'm on my 4th phone now with them and they've really bent over backwards to help me with any of my accounts. I like the total control of the the accounts via the web I don't even have to call and have always been paperless. Just can't get over how thin this phone is. I've owned portables since 1990's and had a NECP901 that was my fav now I have a new candy bar fave. anyhue: I am partial...with a slight addiction to anything cellular. Less

The phone itself is thin, light and comfortable to use. However, as soon as I got it out of the packaging and turned it on, it froze and I had to restart. I had this problem then entire life of my phone but otherwise it worked well enough. I bought it for mobile IM and email more than anything and it worked great. However, all of those lock up and freezes eventually caused my phone to crash and lose not only my stored date and information, but all of my paid for content like ringtones, games and wallpaper. When I called Virgin Mobile about it, I was bounced around for about a month, told they would refund and replace my phone and then told I wasn't getting anything except the exact same phone. The phone rep told me that the Super Slice is pretty well known for crashing and they haven't bothered fixing the problem. VM wouldn't refund my money for the content because they said there was no proof it had been on my phone and I eventually had to start yelling after the 20th+ phone call to get anywhere. They comped a free phone(another slice) and I had less problems with it. All in all, the phone worked great when it worked, Virgin Mobile is terrible at support and service, but for the money I guess it isn't too bad. I recently sent my slice through the washer so I'm looking at replacing it with the Wildcard. I just hope it works better. Less

UT Starcom 1450/Virgin Mobile Super Slice is a great buy @ $34.99

Pro: Bluetooth Capability w/voice command, Camera Phone, Able to use with computer with the correct drivers and a large selection of games to play with 25mbs of memory. Con: Not a flip phone, if you like flip phones. Using experience: 20 days I paid 19.99 for my last phone, the Virgin Moble Marbl, and it had nothing. No camera, no bluetooth capability, corny games with corny graphics. The battery was going bad so I decided that it was best to buy another phone instead of another battery for 49.99 at a local Radio Shack. For 15.00 dollars more than what I paid for the Marbl, the UT Starcom 1450 was worlds apart from the Marbl. It felt like I went from the stoneage to the 21st Century in one good decision to buy the Super Slice. If you're a stickler like me when it comes to money, the UT Starcom 1450 is a great buy! Flip phone or not, doesn't really make a difference to this frugal buyer because I got more than my money's worth with the features that come with the phone. Less

This is my first phone purchase, ever. Every other phone that I had for the last 15 years has been provided by my employer. I wanted a simple, easy to use phone, and the Super Slice has been great. 1. Phone reception and voice quality have been great. 2. Very small and light - easy to carry in your pocket. 3. Basic features including voice memos (missing from the iPhone). 4. Phone service plan is very inexpensive. Yes, this phone does have limitations, but you have to consider that you're only spending $50. I've had my share of Blackberries and other phones with various problems described in other reviews (phone locks up, poor reception, limited battery life). However, the Super Slice has been great. Most importantly, Virgin Mobile offers an unlimited voice plan for $79 per month. That's cheaper than other phones that require a 2-year contract. Why do people sign 2-year contracts for more money than it costs without a contract? Less

This phone is a very good phone and I highly suggest it for someody who is shoping for a phone. The only complaint I have about this phone is that every once in a while the battery comes loose and I have to take it out and stick it back in. By the way, I am not angry mom, that's my mom, don't ask me why she chose that name, I don't know. Less

Have to take battery out and put it back in to get phone to work. After having to do this about ten times, I did a google search using the keywords super slice freezes, and found that this is a common problem for this phone. If you want a cell phone that doesn't freeze up every day then stay far far away from the super-slice phone. Less
