MobileBurn

Brings quite a feature set

from MobileBurn

The Sidekick LX is a worthy addition to the Sidekick family, and the 3.5mm audio jack and impressive display are very welcome. The battery life is ample for enjoying all of the features of the handset without having to hunt for a charger throughout the day. However, the camera is merely decent for a 1.3 megapixel, and leaves something to be desired with the lack of video capture and more image editing options. The build quality is superb, and the instant messaging and music player applications should be copied by all. Despite the lack of proper desktop sync and the absence of Java applicati... Full review

Wired

It's good, but it ain't great

from Wired

I've always loved Danger's line of fliptop two-thumbed smartphones, and this is easily the best one yet. At less than two pounds and 2.4 x 0.9 x 5.1 inches, it's far trimmer than the clunky Sidekick 3, and it's as handy as ever for emailing, IMing, and web surfing. But I'm no longer comparing it to the last Sidekick-I'm comparing it to the iPhone. The LX is a half pound heavier and more and 3 cubic inches bigger than Apple's latest gizmo, and yet it feels lightweight in comparison. The 400 x 240 pixel screen is bright and sharp but feels like a postage stamp compared to iPhone's 480 x 320 t... Full review

Pro: very stylish phone, qwerty keyboard is very comfortable and large, screen display is very clear and vibrant. music player is crystal clear. able to download themes. and lights on each corner of the phone is another attraction to this phone. Con: pictures takin with the phone camera isnt so clear. because of the scroll ball; if u put it in ur pocket or purse it tends to call someone in your recent calls. your music from your sd card can not be made to a ringtone. also with out internet on your phone aim and email will not work. and lastly the quality when talkin on the phone isnt the greatest. Using experience: 3 months i had this phone for 3 months, unfortunetly it got water damaged. two things i have to have as a feature on my phone is being able to text message/picture message and for the phone to have a music player. before i had the sidekick i had the motorola w490 which for a flip phone was a very good phone. when i got my sidekick lx for christmas i fell in love with its design and the amazing qwerty keyboard. also i love how clear the music player was and how clear the screen display was. a great feature to the phone was with certain funtions the phone would light up with different colors. the sidekick lx also has alot of features which makes it a great phone. the down falls of this phone are that you cant take music from your memory card and set them as a ringtone, the camera quality isnt the best, aim and email can not be accessed unless you have a internet service on your plan and lastly if you put the sidekick lx in your pocket or a purse; because of the scroll ball it occasionally will recall the last person in your recent calls. I really love this phone but being 42 years old its taking awhile to figure out all teh bells and whistles. It will be just a matter of time before I am a expert on it. I already pump out about 200 to 300 texts a day so im not to bad.

SIDEKICK LX is ok but I like the 3 better....

Hello this will be helpful for you. I'm not wild about the Sidekick LX, but that opinion might say more about me than about this flashy messaging powerhouse. It excels at text, IM, and e-mail but puts up some roadblocks for those who use a phone primarily to make calls. The LX costs $300 with a two-year T-Mobile voice plan and a reasonable extra $20 per month for an unlimited data plan. You can pay $30 per month for a data-only, no-voice plan. You'll need a good data plan to take advantage of the LX's primary strength: messaging. I easily set up an AOL IM account (the LX supports Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger, too), and I also logged on quickly to Gmail and to PC World's Web-based mail accounts; the LX supports the IMAP e-mail protocol and most other popular Web mail services. And, of course, you can text- and picture-message as well. The LX is designed for two-handed use. To access the keyboard, you lift and swivel the large, beautiful 3-inch screen to reveal a luxurious QWERTY keyboard with excellent spacing between the keys and a no-slip matte finish. New instant messages scroll across the top of the screen when you're doing other things like surfing the Web, which, by the way, is slow. (Currently T-Mobile doesn't offer 3G network speed, but the company plans to roll it out in the first half of 2008.) The senders and subjects of new e-mail messages appear when you scroll to the main interface's e-mail icon using the quick and handy scroll ball. This design, however, is not great for phone calls. You'll want to import phone numbers into the LX's address book and access them that way, because it's awkward to dial using the number keys, which sit in one horizontal row at the top of the keyboard almost directly under the display's hinge. Plus, you'll need to swivel the keyboard out to dial and back in again to talk--awkward design decision number two. While call quality in my area was ... Less

I absolutely loved the sidekick 3 device. Have to say if your a young adult or teen, its a must. I recently sold it and got the even newer one Sidekick LX, which is also a must. The newer one offers a sleeker and more slim design and now offers mood lights which glow blue when you get a text or and instant message. The sidekick devices are for the younger crowd not typically for people who have had blackberrys or any other device that holds a lot of data. The phone can do lots of things at once like Instant Message, Internet,Music and emailing. If your like me and like to text a lot and like the attention than wait no more. I'd recommend a excellent phone for teen and young adult crowd! Less
