Pro: Pretty small, camera Con: terrible battery life, not a lot of memory, parts of camera okay this phone was okay when i first got it but now with everythng new coming out this phone sucks!!! yea it is pretty small but it is also very thick. Yea it has a camera but there is no zoom on the camera and you can really only store 14 pictures while on other phones like the razor you can store over 200. The battery life is terrible too! My phone is on the charger all night and when I take it off the charger in the morning I can call one person and the conversation will only last 10 minutes and my phone would say that it is dead and needs to recharge. Take my advice and never buy this phone!!! Less

Not really good. I'd rate it a 8/10. Its bulky and I dont like how you have to chnage the setting to T9 every time you text message. But... everything else is great. Easy to use, and access everything you want. Set your fav's to easy access. The whole phone design is easy, simple and nice to use.... More

Sanyo has great signal coverage. the battery started looseing alot of its power in its third year of life though. And the camera isn't as good as the new phones, but its still a good camera. Less

hard as nails

wow, I got this phone in 2002 and it is still going hard. I have dropped it too many times to remember and I once threw it 20 feet against a brick wall as hard as I could. It still works perfectly. Not many things take that kind of abuse and still function. I get a lot of dropped calls but that could my crappy service provider...Bell Mobility I read complaints about the camera but what are these people expecting from a cell phone camera Nikon quality pictures? Not to mention this was one of the first phones with a camera things always get better but with 6.0 mp digital camera's going fairly cheap these days your better off just buying a camera but try phoning home with it a ha doesn't work does it! In conclusion if your buying a phone to use as a phone that stands up to real life its not a bad choice. Less

Pro: Durable, intuitive, loud ringer & speaker, voice activatid calls, bright screen, excellent reception, small, compatible with most carry-cases. Con: None that come to mind. This phone was included free with my account activation in December 2003. Tha's right, I've had this phone for just shy of 3 years and boy have I abused it! And it still works great! The durability and practicality is incredible on this phone. This phone has fallen out my car window at 60mph on the NJ Turnpike and it still worked flawlessly! I am truly 100% satisfied with the function, portability (fits perfectly in 5th pocket), volume, call ID on outside... in effect everything I need is in this phone! This phone has replaced my landline phone and I have no regrets. The only area that I have a slight reception problem is on my boat a few miles out at sea. Other than that this phone works everywhere. I have convinced a few friends to give this phone a try and they have thanked me ever since. Truly a must-buy. Less

Pro: Rugged Con: Camera orange-y and blurry Every time (and there were many) I dropped this phone, I managed to be standing on concrete. Never shag carpeting or soft furniture - or even tile or linoleum. Nope, concrete. And it would bounce too - several times - on concrete. Every time it did I would hold my breath as I watched it tumble to the ground in slow-motion. I even tried a couple of times to rely on my not-so-cat-like reflexes to catch it as gravity pulled my precious phone to mother earth's bosom. Usually this move only served to swat it to the ground with even more g's of force(gotta work on my Ninja skills). However, throughout the 2+ years of severe abuse, my phone worked without a hiccup. Oh sure, the camera quality sucked out of the box....but I got this phone when it first came out, and I was the first kid on the block with a camera phone. Yeah - I was that geek taking pictures of everything in site and showing them to everybody who would fein interest. "No, that blob isn't my dog - that's my mother! See that brownish squiggle over there? Yeah, there...that's my dog. No, I can't remember what he was doing, or why I took the picture - but isn't the camera cool?" It was very remniscent of the early heady days of digital photography when we were blown away by any old pixelated image. So, overall this phone was a great trooper. I highly recommend it for any of the not-so-agile among us. I have finally replaced it because both hinges have broken off and it refuses to close properly anymore. Odd thing is the hinges did not break off from any single impact. They just popped off one after another - personally I think it was my phone's way of comitting suicide so it wouldn't have to go through any more torture. My poor unsuspecting new phone! Less

I tend to be abusive to my cell phones and I must say that this Sanyo 8100 has seen the worst. It has been dropped in the mud, skidded across asphalt parking lots I don't know how many times, been subjected to rain.....you get the idea. I was at film school when I first purchased it and it is still wokring great 3 years later. I did buy an additional battiery up front, so they have been swapped on and off as I needed more talk time. The screen is still bright and clear, I love being able to set ringtones for certain callers, and I won't ever get another phone that doesn't have the photo caller ID on the outside. This is great because I can just glance at a photo and see who's calling. I have the Sprint Vision plan and while I don't access the internet on a daily basis, it works well when needed. I like being able to subscribe to the Weather Channal and looking up weather radar when out in the woods. Gaming is okay for those moments when you're stuck waiting. My only gripe is that to retrieve SMS messages (called Short Mail) it s a two step process, rather than them just showing up on your screen. All in all, I have been very happy with my Sanyo phone and will likely stick with Sanyo in the future. And Sprint has been reasonably good to work with. They have service in remote areas and I rarely have dropped calls which seem to plague my T-Mobile friends. Just be sure to check the latest plans from time to time. I've been paying too much for what I get and need to switch. Just remember they reset your contract when you do so, but that isn't a problem with me because I like their service. A happy Sanyo user. Excellent Phone

Excellent Phone - Sprint tried to get me to get a new phone but this one was awesome. I loved that little phone, too bad Sprint was getting too costly for my mobile needs. Great durable phone (i actually have 2 of those)
