I had bought this phone a few months ago to replace my old nokia phone. I wasn't looking for something extravagant, just something basic. This phone pretty much suited my needs. Video and camera are all pretty much standard; nothing over the top. Some of the photos I shot came out a bit fuzzy but as I mentioned, I only wanted a basic phone. I didn't mind if the photos were not crystal-clear. However, the photos were not so blurry where you couldn't make out what was in the photo. Volume is my only complaint I have about this phone. If I'm in a very noisy place, a restaurant, city, or wherever, and I'm trying to listen to someone, even when I have the volume on the highest setting, sometimes it's still very hard to hear what the other person says. This gets very frustrating. All in all, I'm content with this samsung phone. People who are looking for a phone with a lot of extra features that some of the newer phones come with will not find much with this phone. Nevertheless, if you're looking for only a basic phone, this one will do the trick. Less

It does have a volume control

I've had this phone for over a year and am very happy with it. Contrary to the review I just read, it does have a volume control. You can view the manual online to see how to use it.

Don't buy - sound volume is very low.

This is a well rounded phone but it has a big problem... You can "barely" hear the other side. And insult to injury, this stupid thing does not even have a "volume control" so you can increase the sound... I'm really applaud how it became a product ??? Shame on Samsung. Shame on T-Mobil. Fabulous phone - works like a charm

from Amazon
I wanted a phone--not an alarm clock or a camera or anything fancy--just a phone and it certainly fits the bill. It is easy to use, has a long battery life, and is easily one of the best cell phones I have ever purchased. Plus, the T-Mobile prepaid cell phone plan is saving me a fortune. I should have done this years ago.

Excellent phone for the price

from Amazon
I bought this phone (unlocked) to try while traveling rural areas and it gets good reception in areas that my previous phone (razor) would not. The battery life is really great and the sound quality is also good. No complaints here. If you need a phone that works, this one does it.

Worst of the Worst

Samsung makes some pretty crappy phones but this has to be the worst of the worst. Poor Bluetooth support, can't upload photos

I had an opportunity to help a neighbor with her "new" Samsun St-239 from T-Mobil. It's her first cell phone. She like the fact that it had a camera. She used it on a trip to California last week. Today she asked me to upload her photos to her computer. You can't do it with this phone. It does have Bluetooth but it is specifically not provided with any software that allows one to directly transfer (i.e. upload) photos to a pc or a Mac. So how do you get the photos out? Per the user manual, you email them to yourself one photo at a time! That's right, one photo at a time.. You also can upload them to your Samsung MyAlbum somewhere on the web, but I believe that uses up some of your minutes. Anyway, my personal feelings is that this is pretty archaic. My 5 year old Nokia 6102 flip phone uses Bluetooth to upload to pc's or macs. Plus the photos are VGA. Her pictures were grainy and fuzzy. The camera and the lack of Bluetooth uploads makes this phone/service combo more than a bit out of date to me. Less

HARD TO USE

i've had the phone about a month. it is hard to use, very slow, and often will not allow you to answer a call. you can push the 'accept' button till you're blue in the face but it just keeps ringing. i use calendar and alarm frequently., you have to go through the whole menu process to get there no short cuts.

The T239 DOES vibrate

I'm looking at the Samsung T239 manual right now (pg. 60) and it certainly DOES vibrate. The other reviewer is referring only to the alarm. And while dedicated web and mail keys may seem unnecessary on a prepaid phone, where you wouldn't expect a lot of Internet access, this phone is also used with other types of T-Mobile plans. One other thing. The product description has an error. While text messages on T-Moble's monthly plans are $0.20 to send and receive, on the prepaid plans they are $.10 to send and $.05 to receive. Go figure. Less
