Samsung A237 Phone, Blue (AT&T) Just got this one for my technophobic husband who just wants a phone to get and receive calls easily. It's loaded with plenty of bells and whistles (camera, music player, etc. etc.) he'll never use, but he loved it right out of the box. A few years ago he had a similar model, but wasn't put off by this phone's newer, sleaker view on the screen. The numbers and letters on the buttons are easy for him to see without his readers, even in the dark, so he doesn't have any trouble hitting the right buttons the first time he tries, and he's got BIG fingers. It's a great "starter phone" and I'd highly recommend the Samsung A237 for anyone who wants a simple, functional, rugged, but good-looking phone. All the extras are there if you want them but they don't get in the way of using it for POTS (plain-old-telephone-service). I got myself the new Samsung Eternity, which I LOVE and haven't even looked at the DVD of instructions that came with it yet, but then I'm enough of a technogeek to be dangerous. Less

(3) The phone frequently drops calls or else hangs up on people when I'm trying to answer a call. (4) The phone fails to notify me of text or voice messages received. (5) The battery should really last longer than 12 hours if I'm only getting/making 2-3 calls per day. Less

My Moto V180 was going out so I trundled over to AT&T store for a phone upgrade. The most basic model they had was this one and I got it for only $18.00 fee. Voice quality is quite good. Better than the Moto phone and I have no more static when I talk. It does take some reading to set up the keys to make it do what you want rather than go to the internet(along with $$$$ to download data). It does not lend itself to texting (but I don't do that anyway). Ringtones included with the phone are quite limited and I think it's ludicrous to pay AT&T $2.49 just for another tone. The camera is a basic VGA type and there is no provision to download it off the phone to your PC. Less

A bit frustrating.

This phone often puts a call immediately in to voice mail without even ringing. Frustrating. Difficult to open.
