RATING
Based on 34 reviews

Clearly Samsung understands that the cell phone market is not all about high-end, feature-rich smartphones. Many customers just want a basic, reliable phone, and that’s what they’ll get with the HUE.

A dual-band CDMA clamshell, the Samsung HUE has a distinctive red and silver two-tone exterior, complimented with a vertical display, similar to the LG 8700. This external display shows the date, time, signal strength, battery life and caller ID. The charger port/headset jack and volume rocker is on the left spine and the microSD slot and camera shutter are on the right. For the record, the volume rocker remains on the bottom half when the phone is open, making is easy to adjust.

Inside the HUE will be familiar to many, with a traditional keyboard layout and a navigation array consisting of a circular toggle with the OK button in the center. The navigation array is set above the keyboard proper, making excellent use of space and minimizing the possibility of errors. The 2.12 inch internal screen is a 220x176 pixel display able to produce 262K colors.

While the HUE does support Bluetooth and has a speakerphone, the feature set is otherwise entry-level, including an address book with a 500 contact capacity, alarm, calculator and world clock, unit converter, stopwatch and tip calculator. Talk time is rated at 3.2 hours and a stand by time of 22 days.

The HUE will allow you to make good quality calls, text, MMS, email, and provide a rudimentary web experience. Overall it is a good looking, reliable, entry-level phone for folks looking for a simple device.

If you text a lot, or lots of music, I think this phone is not for you unless you are willing to erase your messages often. I had my Samsung for four years so I thought it was a great phone. Battery lasted up to a week if you didn't use the phone much it lasted sometimes up to a couple days for some occasions. But overall it was good. I enjoyed this phone and I hope to get another Samsung phone because the product was great in my opinion. It also survived a trip through the washing machine so it also is a long lasting reliable phone Less

thanks for posting your review blah.

SUCKS BALLLS.

Its easy to use and its a good size, and its pretty good for a first phone. BUT, if i'm not in the city i live in, I cant send picture/ video messages, or long messages, or recieve picture/video messages. Its easy to use and its a good size, and its pretty good for a first phone. BUT, if i'm not in the city i live in, I cant send picture/ video messages, or long messages, or recieve picture/video messages. Also, the memory is un erasable so it can only hold up to about 5000 messages or somthing before you can't send or recieve texts anymore. Somtimes, the messages i send people dont get to them for a couple of hours and vice versa. The camera kinda sucks but its a phone, so what do ya expect.. Its fricken ugly without the removable faceplates so thank god they have them. Also, the battery life isn't great at all. The phone isn't that well made either; after the first 6 months, the keypad started coming off. Also, when it's put on vibrate mode, it vibrates 3 times loudly, which gets very annoying and there's no setting that can change that. Its incredibly hard to get music onto it. It does not come with a usb cord, so you can't plug it into the computer unless you buy one sepretly. Turns off by itself tooo . I definetly don't recomend this phone for people who text alot, or for anybody really at all . Less

Problems

Settings>Text entry>My words. There's the problem right there. You can tell. When you delete them, the phone doesn't go to that "erasing" screen.

FInally told me It was a hundred percent full, when there weren't any messages. i sent it away but the sad thing is, i might get it back :( I'd rather just keep my loner phone Oh and btw. You cant really comment on a phone if you only have had it for a day. Are you five? really. Less

Call quality is terrible, on my old Motorola people would think I was on a landline; the Samsung is all broken and has a lot of static. Another issue is when you talk into the phone your voice does not come out the speaker making is very awkward in a noisy environment. Dropped calls is a big problem, once again the Motorola was far superior. I don’t want to sound like an advertisement for Motorola as they have made some bad phone too, but back to back the Samgung is junk. Less

MUSIC IS RIDICULOUSLY HARD TO GET ON THE PHONE OR INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE. CANNOT TRANSPORT ANY FILE OTHER THAN MUSIC TO A COMPUTER OR ANYTHING ELSE. Google search SCH-r500. All you will find are angered reviewers and death threats on samsung CEO's. It seems this phone was made by cro-magnon man. Using experience: 6 months This phone cannot erase memory. Lasts for about two thousand texts before you can no longer text ever. This has infuriated literally every person that texts with this phone. It is unexceptable it is still sold. The music system is also inconvient. Not a good choice. In laymans, this phone sucks bro. Less

i think the phone is great. it's my first time having a cell phone and i don't know why people say it freezes 'cause the first thing i did was make a video of my dog and then watched it. it was fine. it also has five different colors. (red, pink, dark blue, light blue, gold). the activation part was a little confusing 'cause you have to wait 12 to 24 hours after you first activate it for it to work. but after that, it was fine. it's a very basic phone and extremely easy to understand. as i said i have never had a phone before and in the first 5 minutes, i already knew a to navigate through the phone, take pictures and videos and put people on speed dial. it's very easy to use, very pretty and has some good features for people who are new to cell phones or can't be bothered with reading a manual.
