The "1-Minute" Review

Verdict

Otherwise, if you want something capable and lighter than the A72, this is comparable in just about every way.

Samsung’s March 2021 collection of budget Galaxy models offers varied options out of three very similar phones. The Galaxy A52 would be considered the entry-level phone in the lineup with its smaller size and weaker camera. Consider the following differences and similarities to the larger, pricier A72 model.

What’s Different

  • The Samsung Galaxy A52 has a smaller screen than the A72
  • Smaller and more lightweight
  • 4500mAh battery
  • It has a depth lens instead of a telephoto lens

What’s the Same

  • Super AMOLED full HD display
  • 90hz refresh rate
  • 64MP primary lens and 12MP Ultra-wide lens
  • No 5G capabilities

The Samsung Galaxy A52 is an entry-level phone without a hefty price tag. It offers a significant portion of the A72 experience at a lower price.

The camera isn’t quite as good. But the camera on the A72 won’t satisfy phone people looking for a robust mobile camera anyhow. This also won’t be great for games with a smaller battery and screen.

Otherwise, if you want something capable and lighter than the A72, this is comparable in just about every way.

Pocket-Lint says, “Meanwhile, the standard A52 - which won't come to the UK - is a mix between the A52 5G and the A72, offering the same camera, display, design and battery as the A52 5G, but with the LTE capabilities, 90Hz refresh rate display (albeit smaller) and processor as the A72.”

Tech Radar states, “The Samsung Galaxy A52 isn’t going to blow you away with top-end specs or a remarkably affordable price, but it’s still a solid choice for a mid-range handset that can compete with the likes of the Google Pixel 4a. It’s a difficult phone to love, but if you’re looking for a lot for a lower price point than most other Samsung devices, you may enjoy what the Galaxy A52 has to offer.”

The only true downside of the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is its lengthy charging time, particularly when  compared to its rivals, and that is largely attributable to the Samsung’s 15W in-box charger (vs. 33W for the Xiaomi and 65W for the Oppo). With a compatible 25W charger, the charging experience woul...

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a good smartphone with a thoughtful pick of features - few mid-range phones can offer an attractive design, a 120Hz AMOLED, a decent chipset, and such a capable bunch of cameras. We also liked the battery life and speaker performance, as well as how smooth One UI was. In...

For the most part, Samsung pulled the right strings in making the A52 an excellent midrange device; the screen is large, vibrant, and snappy, the battery life is just plain incredible, and the camera delivers sufficient quality that rounds out this phone's experience. The main competitor of this pho...

As with any phone, even a good one, not everything is roses and sunshine. The in-screen fingerprint reader is so annoying to use that I preferred to enter my PIN to unlock the phone. The mediocre macro camera seems like a frivolous add-on that is only there to boost the total number of cameras on th...

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a handsome and durable phone with a gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display, but its slack performance makes it a hard sell.
