Critic consensus
“Samsung has created a solid phone in the Galaxy A22 5G. While it's not getting the full benefits of three major OS updates and four years of security patches, like its bigger siblings - A32, A52 and A72, it still gets most of the feature trickle-down. Its FullHD, 90Hz LCD display is not spectacular in terms of performance, but it is still a good neck above what you used to be able to get from Samsung's previous cheapest 5G device - the Galaxy A32 5G. The Dimensity 700 chipset delivers solid battery life from the 5,000 mAh pack, as well as modern features and connectivity and plenty of performance for most tasks. Even light gaming is no issue for the A22 5G, with most games we tried successfully making use of the 90Hz refresh rate of the panel for extra-smooth gameplay. While very simple, Samsung's software setup and handling for the high refresh rate mode is perfectly functional, which is not always a given with the competition.”
“The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G demonstrates quite impressively that the Koreans are capable of designing great smartphones when they're not tied to the limitations of the in-house Exynos SoCs. A MediaTek SoC is used here, which allows the test device to provide long battery life and decent performance without overheating. Most of the smartphone's aspects hardly leave any room for criticism given the device's price range: The Wi-Fi signal is very stable and fast in our test, the positioning is reasonably accurate, and 5G connectivity is available, but the smartphone also has to struggle with a somewhat weak signal strength.”
“The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is a predictably solid affordable phone with a strong main camera and exemplary stamina, though its performance and display leave a little to be desired.”
“The overall smartphone experience is great for a 5G phone costing Rs 20,000, we dig the chic looks, the solid build quality, the fast performance, a pleasant One UI experience, and the battery life. It is expensive for what it offers and Samsung needs to drop the price to make it more competitive, but those wanting to wear the 5G tag without spending a lot will like this one.”
