There’s not really a better deal than G Cloud Backup. The app is free to download an you get 1GB free and you can ramp up your space to 8GB by inviting friends to try G Cloud Backup or performing simple tasks like mentioning the app on your Facebook page.

The app allows you to backup your apps, calendars, contacts, music and other data to Amazon’s AWS cloud. Worried about security? The cloud is secured with a 256-bit AES encryption. All you need to do to use the app is set up an account associated with your email, no rooting required.

Super Backup

If you want something that’s completely no frills, why not try out Super Backup. It’s simple to use and you can choose the data you want to backup easily from their menu. For the free version, you can backup apps, contacts, SMS, calendars, bookmarks and call logs. You’ll have to deal with advertisements, but you can pay $1.99 if you don’t want to.

A fun feature of Super backup is that you can schedule your the different data in various intervals - daily to monthly - and send these backup files to gmail. If you want to backup and restore your apps, you will need to root your Android device.

Titanium Backup

This app is probably the grandfather of backup apps and for good reason. While the newer versions are certainly prettier and even easier to use, there’s something to be said about going with ol’ faithful. This app is for the more experience Android users as it requires a rooted device.

The free version is fairly basic and allows you to backup/restore your apps incredibly quickly. The PRO version offers multiple backups, app freezer, scheduled backups, cloud backups, encryption, move all apps to SD and more. It might certainly cost more than other backup apps out there, but out of all the apps listed, it gives you the most features and flexibility.

Think about this, every 3.5 seconds someone’s smartphone is stolen. Since most thieves will wipe the device data clean, even if you recover it, you will never recover all the data you had.
