Just had the same problem and soooo happy to fix it. Ok there are two types of volume on this phone. Just make a call (ask the person you're calling not to answer too quickly) and while it's dialling, press the top side right hand volume button until its at full capacity (mine is 10) and HEY PRESTO! Hope that works for you :)

If it keeps on happening every time you have calls, it could possibly be a defect. Bring your phone back to where you got it from and have it checked. Since it's new, if ever they find something really wrong with your phone, they will fix it at no cost or just give you a new one as a replacement.

When I receive or make a call the next party can hear me but I can't hear them

It does have voice dial. To voice dial, press and hold the voice recognition key in your home screen. When prompted, say “Call”, followed by a number or contact name. As for the message indicator, there's no way to turn it off.

There are essentially 2 versions of the HTC Touch in Canada. The P3450 Touch (https://www.cellphones.ca/cell-phones/htc-touch-p3450/) is the GSM variant and is available now on Rogers. The P3050 Touch (https://www.cellphones.ca/cell-phones/htc-p3050-touch/) is a CDMA version and it is available with Bell or Telus. The CDMA version (Bell/Telus) is available in a dark grey or in white. The GSM version for Rogers is available in grey as well but the shade appears a bit lighter.If you go the GSM route, you can also buy the phone unlocked. And..yeh..it will probably be about double the upfront price. Personally...I think 3 years is a crazy contract. I'd buy the phone outright and put it on a monthly plan, avoiding long term marriages to Rogers. Remember...the phone isn't actually cheaper with Rogers in the long run. They are paying some of the costs for you, and recouping those costs over the length of your 3 year term. Alot can happen in 3 years.Hope that helps you. Best of luck.

Thanks for the good advice - I think I will definately go without the contract then - that seems to be a common comment about these phones.Also, I am wondering - the 3450 says it is only a tri-band phone. Do you think this means it will work in Canada, the US, Mexico, and China?? I'm having trouble finding information on this.As well, I am wondering - how does the touch feature compare when typing up emails, etc., to a standard cell phone with keys (like Nokia's E 51). I am trying to decide on these two phones.

Yup your right, I emailed HTC, the GSM version only got the RAM/ROM upgrade and the CDMA version is the one with the 400mhz qualcomm. I emailed HTC and they don't plan to upgrade the GSM processor.I noticed that Bell came out with unlimited internet so looks like I'm going with them. sim, I remember reading that CDMA is actually better on battery life than GSM so I don't think it would need more power. Might have something to do with how most CDMA carriers have that TV on your phone feature though (like Sprint TV)?

I think the 400Mhz version is CDMA version only. Telus has it right now. I was told that this is because the CDMA network needs more processing power then GSM. I don't know maybe someone knows?

Hey Epsilon.Rogers is still selling the non-upgraded version of the Touch and I don't expect you'll see an upgrade till into the new year.

Were you always using it or was it just recently that you attempted to turn it on? If it's the latter, you might want to let it charge for a while before trying to turn it on.
