Critic consensus
“The Nokia X3-02 Touch-and-Type combines quality hardware with a pleasant user experience, but suffers from a lackluster OS and finicky software. It's a decent enough feature phone for those who simply want a durable, and low-cost ($200 unsubsidized) device that focuses on core functionality and offers a few extras in a small and familiar package. But for those who also seek GPS, multitasking, or Exchange integration on a budget, it's too little, too late: there's a growing number of budget smartphones -- like the T-Mobile Comet and the Orange San Francisco -- that eclipse the X3-02 at the same price point. The world is changing, and we're pretty sure that increasingly, most people will chose the smartphone over the feature phone. We're just not convinced that Nokia is paying attention.”
“To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Nokia X3-02. It is a truly innovative Series 40 phone that mixes cool ergonomics with a wonderfully affordable price tag and good overall styling. The touch screen implementation only enhances usability and it is clear that Nokia made a concerted effort to make connectivity a primary concern. In turn, if you're looking for something more affordable than a smartphone that can still manage your email and surf the web, and can get past the keypad layout, the Nokia X3-02 comes recommended. Alternatively, you can consider the Sony Ericsson Zylo if you're in need of a GPS on your phone, or, if you're looking for a simpler offering with a similar interface, the sliding Nokia X3-00 would be another worthwhile consideration.”
“The sleek phone is made to impress at first glance. Nokia really did a good job with the X3-02 Touch and Type. The new touch-optimized S40 UI gives the common Nokia user another pleasant perspective over the phone's functionality. Even though, the X3-02 is not a cheap phone, it's definitely worth a try.”
