One of Verizon’s latest smartphones is the Nokia Lumia 822 running Windows Phone 8. It’s the first actual Nokia phone to become available through the Big Red in years, and it comes with built-in support for CDMA networks as well as 4G LTE data. Design-wise, it’s not that different from the rest of the phones in Nokia’s Lumia smartphone range but is only available in three different colours. Plus, it features prominent Verizon branding right below the screen, where it can be easily seen.
The Lumia 822’s main features include a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and support for added storage via microSD cards. It runs on a dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU from Qualcomm, which most reviewers report as snappy.
The Lumia 822 is effectively an affordable ticket to the forefront of the Windows Phone platform for those who require LTE data speeds on their next smartphone.

- Chris Ziegler, The VergeThe Lumia 800, with a screen measuring just 3.7 inches, was a beautiful device intended to slot into the high end of Nokia's lineup (sales figures notwithstanding). With the possible exception of Apple, though, virtually every phone manufacturer has moved away from the notion that a smaller phone ca...
- Grant Hatchimonji, BrighthandIf the hardware and price of the Nokia Lumia 820 and its carrier equivalents appeal to you, then Verizon's own Lumia 822 is likely your best bet. It may not have as sexy of a build as the Lumia 810, but what it lacks in style, it more than makes up for in performance. After all, the greatest drawback...
- Michael Fisher, PocketnowIf you're shopping for a Verizon Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia 822 deserves consideration.
- Mike Norris, BitBitByteFor $99 (with a new 2-year contract), the Lumia 822 is a pretty great deal as long as you’re ready to try something new (if you’ve never used Windows Phone before). For current owners of Windows Phone devices, whether the same caliber or higher end, the 822 is a bit more of a pause. It&r...
