The Nokia 8600 Luna is definitely a breathtaking piece of art. The tempered smoked glass, resistant to scratches and smudges, is truly something that you wish to see on all phones. Build quality is definitely second to none, although it would have been even better if the stainless steel back was scratch resistant as well.

However, no matter how many heads turn when you slide the beautiful Luna open, there is still the stiff keypad to contend with when typing out SMS messages. There is also a feeling of utter frustration when the phone flashes a "Low Memory" notice even though you constantly tell yourself in denial that 128MB is more than enough to satisfy all your music and photo-taking needs. There might also be a feeling of disappointment when your pals are video calling one another and you have to sit by the side wondering why Nokia couldn't include 3G connectivity in such an expensive phone.

Yes, there are flaws and there are certainly complaints of the lack of features. Nokia definitely knows about this but heck, the Luna has always been more about form than function. If you seek the latest in technology and huge amounts of space to put all your photos, music files, and your massive amount of ringtones, then you are just not the buyer Nokia is targeting for the 8600. If you value style and beauty, the Luna is certainly your best bet and in spite of how all of us at MobileBurn.com are crazy about mobile technology, the Nokia 8600 Luna gets a 'Recommended' rating for its excellent build quality and simply because it is one of the most beautiful looking handsets around.

Nokia 8600 Luna

Nokia has really shot itself in the foot with the 8600 Luna. Build is a delight. Solid, classy and impressive. But as a camera or music phone it doesnt approach being acceptable. In the end this heavily influences its value for money rating.

Quite a few downsides, but all those seem exactly the functions people likely to buy a Luna will usually overlook. There are plenty of lifestyle gadgets to do all those jobs.

And then, the Luna has some aspects worth praising: the perfect display, fast user interface and exquisite bodywork. The handset is beautifully crafted and probably very durable. After all, the Luna excels at what it will be most likely used for: calling, messaging, and getting noticed. No doubt about that last one.

Strengths: Cool design, convenient buttons, scratch-resistant cristal, weight, good camera, quad-band Weaknesses: Price, short-life battery, no external memory Using experience: 6 Months This phone is kinda expensive but it's considered to be luxury. It's heavy and, from one hand, I like it, from another hand, you may easily drop it, and it will get scratched. Buttons are bigger than on the first model of 8800 , which is good. Its battery doesn't last long, so, even using bluetooth, will drain it out within a few hours. I upgraded its software once from the web, and it got broken. Since I have a European version (it was made in Germany), I was forced to send it over to UK for repair. I like all Nokia 8800 phones, except three-band ones, because I need flexibility of frequency for traveling. Less
