RATING

4.6/10
Informr score
The Nokia 6205 currently has an Informr score of 4.6 out of 10. This score is based on our evaluation of 14 sources including reviews from users and the web's most trusted critics.

The Nokia 6205 is a CDMA flip that edges out competitors in its tier by doing things a little bit better.

Weighing in a 3.3 ounces, and with modest dimensions of 92 x 45 x 18.3 mm, the Nokia 6205 has a talk time of four hours, a standby time of up to 11 days and has a spacious 2 inch display that can reproduce 262K colors.

Along with GPS, you get an MP3 player with external touch sensitive music controls, a 2.5mm headset jack to allow for quality stereo headphones, expandable memory up to 4GB, Bluetooth and video capture, along with a simple but capable camera.

The Nokia 6205 feature set is rounded out with the expected alarm, calculator, calendar and voice memo.

This is a solid phone for folks looking around in the tiers just one or two steps above entry level. Nothing too fancy, but enough functionality to help them with their day.

we got this as a replacement for my lg phone that was the same design basically. that one had many issues with the screen and it just fell apart. this phone doesnt charge and verizon wouldnt do anything about it. it only sometimes vibrates and it CONSTANTLY powers down. i'll be texting one person, it shuts off after about 20 min. if two, every ten, if three... basically every two minutes!! its so annoying. sometimes my speaker wont work and i cant hear the person on the other end and sometimes they can't hear me. just dont get this phone please!!! oh and you cant close it to take pictures Less

Not half as bad as everyone is saying.

from Amazon
I got this phone a while ago, because it was free from Verizon. As a cell phone by itself, it is excellent. It is very light and the sound is good. Battery life is not stellar, but are you really expecting to be away from a wall plug for more than five days? As for any of the previously posted problems, I have had none of them.

This phone is horrible, in March I knew this phone was not going to work within the first few weeks after I received it, but I was being cheap and thought....Oh well I will learn to deal with the pain in the butt texting, the uncomfortable battery port and terrible camera just because I can't afford to upgrade and pay for the re-stocking fee. What a mistake being cheap has turned out to be. The phone will not charge now, they said I broke the battery port. Well if it wasn't a manaufacturers malfunction from the beginning maybe this wouldn't have happened? I have never had a problem with a battery port on a phone in the last ten years I've had a cell phone, neither has anoyone I've known. Just people with this phone! Now I have to call Verizon and complain, the store said call Assurion. I can't utulize my insurance policy to get yet another one of these phones, it will break in 3 months. Other bad things about this phone...the phone just turns off and on at it's leisure bc of the battery port problem. You push a button on accident you get charged 1.99 (had to change my internal settings) it will crack easily when dropped, the vibrate function will break if it's dropped. The paint chips easliy. Just think I have 2 of these phones :( Less

Worse Phone Ever - Don't buy it!!!

from Amazon
This is my third Nokia 6205. The charging portal continues to disfunction and not charge the phone. Recieved two new chargers and they don't work - not the chargers fault, but the phone itself. I am so upset and frustrated that I have to yet again get another phone and Verizon will only replace it with the same bad phone.

I noticed that some of the problems people are reporting on other reviews here are things easily corrected if you read the user manual and change a few settings on the phone. The default settings on the phone do indeed suck, but the phone is great once you change it to how you want. That being said, I love this phone! It should be noted, however, that I don't care for all the bells and whistles. I don't care to have a camera, and admittedly the camera on this is sub-par. I also don't care to have the internet, or speakerphone, etc., and the music player is just a fortunate plus. However, if you're looking for a simple phone with an easy to use interface that will allow you to make phone calls and text easily, then this phone is great. Battery life is great! I will agree that the plug for the charger is a little annoying...it's tiny and needs to be inserted just so. Honestly, I think if you want a phone that "does it all" and does it all fantastically, you're going to pay a pretty penny for it, and that's just how it is. This isn't a bad phone by any means, but remember, you get what you pay for. If you want all the bells and whistles, this isn't the phone for you. Less

They keep replacing it with the same phone and I really don't like it. I've been told that there is nothing I can do about it. The keypad is awful. The sound clarity is awful. The fragility of this phone is awful. As a previous reviewer stated, I would have to lay out too much money to buy a replacement phone and I have only had this one for 4 months! I will never buy Nokia again. Ever. Less

I was an idiot and bought this phone at a retail store because of its looks! Yes - it looks cool - but I've had it about three months, and - well, "I've had it!" I give up. I find myself telling my family and friends that I'll have to call them when I get home or to the office, because I can't understand them on the cell - they sound so fuzzy. The weirdest thing is that the sound quality actually sounds better on my bluetooth than when I just use the phone. I thought it was me - but this week my husband picked it up when my daughter called- and he handed me the phone and said "you talk to her - she sounds like she is in a wind tunnel and I can't understand her." I'm now trying to research phones based on more than looks- and I guess I will have to buy a used one otherwise I'll have to mortgage the house to buy one without a new contract. I just put the two year contract on this lousy phone. Never again will I be seduced by looks! (Well-- Brad Pitt maybe- but not cell phones!) Less

For a basic phone, it appears to work fairly well, but if you want to use the bells and whistles, be prepared to pay extra, and pay often. The primary reason that I opted for the lone Nokia phone in Verizon's lineup was the fact that my previous Nokia (with AT&T) was supported by Nokia's own software, which allowed me to update my ringtones, change settings, and back up my phonebook to my PC for free, anytime. Since the 6205 has a USB connection, I fully expected that it would be similarly supported. Not so, unfortunately. Although a third-party program (Susteen DataPilot) does permit some of these functions, it's an extra-cost addition that may not be available everywhere. Additionally, this Nokia uses a different charging connection than any previous unit I've seen from that manufacturer, which meant that all of my car, travel and home chargers became instantly obsolete. One "feature" that has turned out to be of little value to me is the presence of an option to add an SD card to provide additional phone memory. Even though I do not plan to use the phone as a virtual iPod, if that card could also have been used to move mp3 files between the phone and my PC, I'd rate the phone at least a full star higher...but that's not the case. Unless you buy the Datapilot software and use it to upload music to the phone via USB, the only other way to get your tunes on to the phone appears to be via Verizon's VCast, which also isn't free for me. Had it not been for the fact that I was pretty much committed to moving to Verizon due to business contacts that were eating my minutes when I was on AT&T, I think I'd probably have been happier remaining with my old Nokia and my old contract. As it is, I'm going to shop around and see what else I can find that might be less revenue-oriented in its features. This one, and the plan I accepted, will nickel and dime you to death if you use it for anything more than the minutes of call time that are included in the contract. As for the rest of the phone's features, I found the sound quality to be comparable to most other units, and the camera in the flip lid works about as well as can be expected for a small-format 1.3 megapixel. I'll note that the button configuration of the phone makes it much too easy to accidentally access extra-cost services by mistake; you'll probably want to do as I did, and block access to all of them in your account settings.
