Reviews (6.2/10 Avg. rating)

Darn, there are no reviews yet for this phone.

I've been using this V262 now for about ten years. Good basic cell phone but not the easiest to text with.

It's time has come to be replaced. The next phone will be one the has a camera, FM Radio and Qwerty keyboard. I don't need a "Smart Phone" I'm not smart enough to know how to use one!!

I am in love with this phone

I have had the v262 since August 2005 and am sad to say it has finally kicked the bucket, although not completely. The screen cease's to work and since I live off of texting, it has to go. I have had the v262 since August 2005 and am sad to say it has finally kicked the bucket, although not completely. The screen cease's to work and since I live off of texting, it has to go. Since I'm in the market for a new phone I have reviewed AT LEAST 20 phones on this website and find people always have more bad than good to say about their phones. It makes sense, people get pissed off and go on here to vent. Although, more people should post good things about phones because apparently none are good. I treated this phone like crap and it was able to survive everything. The only thing I never did was completely immerse it in water, but it did get wet MANY times. After a year, the battery was shot and luckily I went in a week before my warranty expired to get a new battery. The indication of the battery being gone was a blank screen, which I suspect is the problem now. Probably the worst thing about this phone is the battery life. I had to steal my dads battery about a year ago because mine lasted null. His phone is ALWAYS off so he never noticed. About 6 months ago, my THIRD battery was unable to last longer than 2 min in a call and I literally had to have it charging all the time when I was at home, kind of defeats the purpose of a cell phone. Also a year ago it began to randomly shut off and lose service, this was a piss off. The strange thing is this stopped happening for a few months, but then it came back. All in all this is an awesome phone and if you want something that's durable and lasts long this is the phone for you. Although it's severely outdated now and I doubt you can even purchase it. Less

We call Motorola, because we are with telus Pay as you Go and we don't use the phone too often maybe 20 minutes a month. At motorola they could not provide me with a french service and they told me, that is too bad the phone is not under warenty anymore. the phone is not frendly user. Too many gadget. So CRAP phone and POOR service. Less

...just some quick background: when I first fot this motorola model back in the fall of 2005, this was also my first introduction to the 'wireless world', too. Looking at the other reviews on this cel, my only disappointments with this phone are divided by the free options I got (as a 'mgr special') for signing up for a 3-yr contract, & the perceived performance of the battery (requires more frequent charging, & yes, doesn't appear to hold charge like it did brand new--something I understand happens to all batteries, right...?) The 'free options' I refer to are the earphone (to help w/ handsfree operation) & the car charger...the former was a cheap/generic type & the wire is likely broken somewhere in it's unprotected path; the latter--for some perverse reason--did not share the same 'male' charger tip as the home charger. As a result, the car charger became quite useless in less than a yr's worth of occasional charging as said tip began to literally disintegrate! Like I said, I think Motorola could've made a better, long-term decision not to farming out such an inferior product when they could've learned from the performance record of the associated home charger for this same phone! Otherwise, I found this unit to be a fairly rugged unit, a great way to being introduced to some (now!) very helpful features that appear to be more commonplace not only among cel phones, but landlines, too! In addition to call display, call-conferencing, text messaging, ID ringtones the 500-name/ph # record, being able re-dial last # calling in/out, 'talking' to the cel to call others (admittedly not fool-proof, but fun as all h*** when it works, especially when other friends nearby...), calendar/alarm (especially in vibrate-mode...'nuff said!) functions. In closing, the other 'service' that I've found rewarding (wish the recipient callers would recognize this, too...) was the ability to have a phone to use & dial my chums wherever I may have been visiting them, without having to incur l-d charges when I called them; wish the cel industry did not have to be so greedy in the way they 'collect' when us cel user's 'roam'...but that's another topic/review, eh? Thanks for having read this far...with my current cel contract coming due for review, I was sorely tempted to just negotiate for a new battery, car charger & try a wireless headset, but now my Telus rep is tempting me on an offer for a RAZR come renewal time...wish me luck! Beware of the charging port

This is a fairly good phone except for the charging port. We had two of these phones and both got to where they were hard to charge not too long after getting them. This is a fairly good phone except for the charging port. We had two of these phones and both got to where they were hard to charge not too long after getting them. We took them for repair and one was beyond repairing, the other one has been repaired twice now. We had no idea that the port could be damaged by normal charger use and become unfixable. We were told, when we took it for repairs, that this is a common problem with this phone. Less

What I love about this phone, is that I've never seen a phone out compete it in reception!! Less

Now a year later, we have the same problem. We called Motorolla and they say they will fix it for $75.00. We talked with US Cellular, where we bought it and we were told there were lots of problems with the speaker The call center rep said they had NO RECALLS and that they would not back us. I am sending the company a letter. They won"t do anything for us but I will tell them that I will NEVER buy a Motorolla phone again and you can bet on I will make sure that I tell my friends to pass on this information about this company!! Several people, even strangers, when they see my phone comment about, "You haven't changed phones yet?" They they'll tell me to take it back to U.S. Cellular and it will be replaced. When contacting the "sales" staff, one will tell me I'll have to send it in for a 2 week turn around. Others will take the phone in the back and say it's working perfectly. Less
