While Motorola has certainly taken a few lumps regarding how it drove the original line of RAZR phones into the ground, releasing an endless stream of minor tweaks and color variants, I am pleased to report that the new V9m is the completely new RAZR that people are looking for. It deserves to be called RAZR2 because it is a major leap forward on almost all fronts when compared with the original.

In short, the Motorola RAZR2 V9m is a fantastic phone. It has a great feature list, good looks, and a very solid build quality that should stand up to a fair amount of abuse. It might not be the cutting edge device that the original RAZR V3 was in its time, but I think the V9m is probably more worthy of your purchasing dollars than the original. There are a few bugs a minor glitches, but overall I am extremely pleased with the device. I give it a "Highly Recommended" rating for those looking for high-end looks, technology, and functionality in a feature phone.

I live in winnipeg. It got hot one day, high 30's (Celsius) then colder (about 18C) 2 days later. That was enough to cause enough water to condense in my phone and cause water damage!! which voided my warranty! I'm not sure if the water actually damaged it, but there is a little litmus strip inside the back of the phone which turned red, and totally voided my warranty!. That's a $360 phone ruined by a 25 degree change in temperature. It also kept sending and receiving duplicates when not in perfect reception which is extremely annoying to you and those you're texting. Battery struggles to make it any longer than 12 hours, even when just texting. Make a 20 minute phone call and you it drains your phone battery to almost nothing. Another peeve is Facebook would not work with it. It's supposed to be able o browse and the browser is absolutely terrible. Do not buy this phone hoping to occasionally use the internet on it. I like the looks of this phone, and the feel. But that was it. Every other way it just didn't work well. It's too fragile and they gave up quality and functionality making it look good it seems. I've never bee so disappointed with a phone before. (Also, MTS was my device provider. I have never dealt with someone so rude as them) Less

I had the same problems as you both with the phone and MTS. Hate those 3 year contracts especially when you get stuck with a piece of s--t!

Nice aesthetics but not tough enough!

Had mine for 9 months and the outer panel cracked. It began to shut down randomly. Tech guy said it was because the flip flexed, causing the panel to crack. Not very durable and damage not covered by warranty. Back to my sturdier Samsung.

I had to go to the booth where I purchased my phone to get it reset. I also have to constantly lock the touch screen because it unlocks by itself. The only feature I like on the razr is the camera because it takes great pictures. Overall this phone is not bad, but I've had my fair share of problems with it. I would not get this phone if you are looking to purchase it. It may be stylish and have a great camera, but you will be guarenteed to have problems with the Motorola Razr2. From one consumer to another, DONT BUY THIS PHONE! Less

More trouble than it's worth

I've had this phone for over a year now and can't wait until the contract is up. My husband and I both got one at the same time and we've had lots of problems with them. I've had this phone for over a year now and can't wait until the contract is up. My husband and I both got one at the same time and we've had lots of problems with them. I am not rough with my phone and have never dropped it, so I see no excuse for the issues we've had. Within the first week we had battery issues. Sometimes the battery wouldn't charge at all, sometimes it would charge and be dead within 6 hours, and other times it would be fine. We called our retailer and they sent us one new battery, but the problem persisted even with that. Sometimes switching batteries between the two phones would 'cure' the problem for awhile. Another major problem was that it would unlock the external keys on its own. Toss it in a purse or put it in a pocket, and suddenly it would turn on the MP3 player or dial someone without touching it. Sometimes the screen would say the keys were still locked, but the functions were working as if it wasn't. Several times I would be on a call and the phone would go dead. Keys wouldn't respond, I couldn't even turn it off. This could only be 'fixed' by removing the battery and then putting it back in. I dont use the mp3 player, rarely use the camera, and didn't really want any features other than just being able to make calls and text. Looks-wise it's a sleek phone, but the glass front does show every fingerprint and smudge, and it does break easily. My husband's cracked within the first month from a minor drop. Less

The phone looks great and has cool features that work well until it starts acting up. Mine is less than 1 year old, and I have always taken very good care of it - never dropped, never been near water or moisture etc... Less that a year old, it started to freeze, slow down, the vmail or txt msg indicator would not go away even after msgs were cleared. At one point it wasn't charging up well and I would barely use it for 1 hr and the battery would die. Lastly 1 week ago the entire screen and backlight died. So now I cannot see the screen or read any texts or even read my contacts lists so I have had no #s for a week...if you don't want any phone problems, do not buy this phone. S. Toronto Less

But, it's a dieing phone now. The battery has never been especialy great, and after over a year it's just crap. It crashes, it's random, it'll receive calls and texts when it feels like it, my voice mail icon wont go away, sometimes when I go into pictures all the charictors become blocks and the phone stops working, it sends texts to other contacts sometimes, and all of this just started happening shortly after the warentee expired. Also when it was only a couple months old the firmware just sort of deleted itself. This thing has a mind of it's own, it really does. I paid alot for it too, and am stuck on a 3 year now with Bellgin, and to boot this has been the best phone I've ever used. It has amazing call quality, and when it wants to be the EVDO is super fast. It's even durable despite what people say, I mean my hinge is on it's last leg, and some of the buttons are almost useless but I've used it a lot, well over 600 horus of calls alone. It's been dropped a couple times like every phone as well and untill 2 weeks ago didn't even have a scratch. I love/hate this phone, and Motorola has the best phone OS (excluding smartphones) and call quality I find. Stil it brings me back to the get a new phone at least once a year issue. Oh yeah and the battery life was poor out of the box and is garbage now. Less

Long story short, i ended up trading my badly beaten, but still tickin Moto W385 for this.. (good deal eh?) i loved the phone. touch screen worked well, with a vibration feedback when you pushed one of the 3 buttons. lock worked well, never had an instance where i would randomly have music playing from my pocket. the.... frame? of the phone was fairly tough, with a cool, dark blue anodized shell. flip it open and you see the well laid out keypad (it took me a while to get used to the buttons... they were alot farther apart and tougher to push than my w385) one issue that i had with the phone is when i would drop it (sitting in class... whoop dee doo) is that the battery cover would come off and the battery would go sliding across the floor. oh well. software: was amazing at first. towards the end of my time with the phone, it had started to slow down a bit, which frusterated me, but i got used to it. iTap is a MUCH MUCH superior one touch system than T9 is... i really really hate T9 after using the iTap. texting is really really amazing, you enter your text, hit send to, and choose however many contacts you want to send to (idk if it was just the older phone, but my LG only had space to send to 4 ppl) browser is much faster than the w385... but not as fast as the chocolate gig. one thing that annoyed me is sometimes, not often, it would randomly restart or turn off. that annoyed me, but it was a simple manner of turning it back on, or just reentering your code (if applicable). then the crash. this really, really angered me. i was in the hospital waiting room and the nurse brought out an IV machine. so to be nice (i couldnt remember what machine it was until after i turned it off that the phones really mess with... btw its a heart monitor) i turned my phone off. i remember i was using the stock headphones at the time. i turned my phone off, and then after my visit i went to go turn it back on. turns out, it didnt. it would go to boot up, make it to the moto logo, and not go any farther. worse still is that when you would close it, you would get a vibration feedback when you ran your fingers over the touch parts. i looked this up on the net, turns out this isnt an isolated case. this was the second time one of my phones had crashed on me, the first being a LG 8100. btw, i love moto phones, they seem to be more feature and option packed than LG's... tho thats just my experience.
