Great multimedia touch-screen phone with a nice full keyboard for messaging

from CNET
The good: The LG Tritan has a generous size touch-screen display, a handy navigation joystick, a really great QWERTY keyboard, a 3.5-millimeter headset jack, a document viewer, a full HTML browser with Flash Lite support, and a 3-megapixel camera. It also has very good call quality. The bad: The LG Tritan's touch-screen interface takes some acclimation, and we wish the navigation joystick were designed a bit better. The bottom line: The LG Tritan is a great multimedia touch-screen phone with a nice full keyboard for messaging... Con: Slow..Can't customize ringtones without buying them...forget about reading emails with pictures or attatchments Using experience: 1 years This phone SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't do jack squat with this phone. Seems a bit extreme to pay for a data plan to be able to log into facebook, because that's about the only thing this poor excuse for a phone will do..DON'T GET THIS PHONE!!!! Less

i love my phone but i have not experienced any mager problems. this is my repaced phone. i had my replacement phone for about two months and have had minimal to no problems. my old tritan was plauged with constantly rebooting. it at the time that was the only problem. the sceen is eligible in direct sunlight and is fustrating. later the baterylife got horrible. i only got 2 hours of talktime and about six hours of light, mixed usage, and an hour and ahalf of heavy mixed usage. the quick fix to that is to dim the screen. six months later my acelerometer was completly useless. i couldnt even use my keyboard. now i had my replacment tritan for two months and i havent experienced any of those problems. now enough of the bad. lets talk about what makes this a good phone. i'm only thirteen years of age so i only can go so into dept. the 3 inch wqvga screen responsive and vivd. what i find repusive about the phone is the design. it has a talk back and end key with a physical track pad. i liked the track pad but when using this in portrait it is akward. it has a pretty backlit display that from a distance, this 16:9 screen looks very good. it has an advanced lcd caled a tft which is a backlit lcd wit extra leds to match the colors it has a three megapixel camera with the best quality on an lg to date. it has a large sensor. it is equiped with auto focus, night shot mode, picture effects, 5 resoultions, brightness ajustments, a self timer, multi-shot modes between 3,5,7; 3 different qualities, macro mode, and shutter sound ajustments. it performs well in areas where there is a mjority blue scene. when taking pictures of a white object, it apears sligtly red or pink. reds are very vivid but the deeper a red is the more yellow a sheen is on it. greens are nice but have a slightly fuzy appearance. when i bright light it performs poorly. it has a yellow look to it. in low light it has no graining what so ever. it records decent video but it is jumpy and is best to keep still while recording. it is best to vew it on the phone for the video recording is not clear. the mesaging systems are good. it is easy to text mesage, easy to send an email though it is not realy usable. the input method is great. you have a numerric key pad that is on screen as well as a virtual qwerty. it als has a physical keyboard which i belive is the best of all lg devices. it has a four row keyboard that fells flat but spacious. this phone is packed with fetures. qualcom has intergrated a 3d chip for gaming.it has instant mesaging, email, mobile tv, radio, navigation, an organizer, a unit convertor, book mark for the internet ussage, a weather reader, nutsie, and bluetooth. the web experience is bland and typical of all high end multimedia phones. the youtube videos are high quality and show up clear on this phone. it is suprising. in my opinion every phone is not the same and its just that they are manufactured slightly differently which makes the feel and interface different. this phones longevity is about six months so get the insurance policy for an aditional six dollars. No texting, no apps, nothing. I'll most likely get a replacement, but not without looking around first. Less

Pro: Con: Using experience: 12 days Okay...I had this phone for about a week already, going on two. And so far I have no problems at all. I don't know what people are talking about battery life. Mine last the entire day and I talk/text/and use the internet all the time. I will go down to a single bar...but that is already when I'm at home and getting ready for bed. I charge it while I'm sleeping and it is ready to go in the morning. It is easy to use. At first I thought I would have problem getting the hang of it. This is my first 'touch screen' phone and my first cell that isn't a 'flip phone'. I love the slide out keyboard, that comes in handy. it took me a day or two to finally get used to the slide out keyboard. I was still in my flip phone mode with hitting the keys 2-3 times for the letter. And now when I get home I'll load up music onto the phone :) Can't wait!!! I would recommend this phone. But I really shouldn't...I dont like people having the same things as me :) hahaha It is a great phone. Less

I have had my Tritan for about two weeks. I can not find anything I do not like about this phone except that it is bigger then my old LG. This will take me time to get use to. I was going to trade it in for the LG BLISS because it is smaller. But why downgrade when you already have the best just because it is thinner and smaller. I needed a phone I could hear ring and trust me you can hear this one ring. I can also see who is calling me! You can do just about anything with this phone. No drop calls. I can hear the person I'm talking to. Sometimes I have to pull it away from my ear when they are talking or turn the volume down. They come in so clear. I have US Cellular.I Had to pay $20.00 extra a month for the internet with this phone. Not happy about that! But now that I'm on the internet it is fun. The MP3 player on this phone is GREAT! better then my ipod. I could go on and on but will stop for now. Go and try the Tritan out I'm sure you will love it. Less

Pro: Internet interface is user friendly, texting is easy, accelerometer is convenient Con: Short battery life. Using experience: 2 weeks It's hard for me to say exactly what the pros are for this phone, because everything it does, it does very well. You get multiple options for texting (touch screen, T9, QWERTY keyboard), the call clarity is great, both on my end and the other person's, the touch screen is very responsive, it takes decent pictures and video, and a lot of things are customizable. The one thing people have been complaining about is the short battery life, which I agree with. HOWEVER, the battery life is short because using the internet and texting are going to suck up a lot of the battery because they require more power than making calls or just letting your phone sit there. Luckily, the charger doubles as a data cable, and you can charge the phone on a computer through USB. If you're looking for a phone with a lot of extras and mobile internet but you don't want an actual smart phone, The Tritan is the way to go. Less

Con: After having the phone for 4 days, some of the keys on the keyboard do not work. I may just have a "bad" phone. Battery life could be better especially when using the Internet. Pro: Stylish, sleek, fairly-priced phone, all the gadgets and gimics you would want in a data phone. Con: Pricy to operate, sometimes shuts off for no apparent reason, and worst of all it LOCKS UP INTERMITENTLY. You can just go to pick up your phone one morning after a night's rest and the display is frozen in addition to the toolbar at the top of the screen lit up in brown with a lock symbol. As much as you try to unlock it from the side, it won't. I soon figured out that taking the battery out of the back of the phone reset it HOWEVER this is not something you should have to do all the time Using experience: 2 months Great phone with all the gadgets, very similar to IPHONE style but without the OVERPRICED ticket. BUT something needs to be done about this phone locking up... i don't know if it's the program or because it's such a new phone... Less
