Needs some improvement

from Yahoo
Pro: Thinner than the 1st chocolate Con: Buttons, Unlocking switch It needs better buttons. The navigation wheel moves should be more like the iPod. You have to unlock the phone when it is closed, which gets annoying. But it is a good mp3 player.

Pro: battery life is pretty good, but phone is new Con: touch keypad drives me nuts I upgraded to this because it was cheaper than buying a new battery for my old razor. I just threw it across the room. I could never get it to go on speakerphone, because I have to lock the keypad or whenever I'm on the phone my cheek causes the buttons to go off and next thing I know i'm saving numbers to contacts and stuff while talking on phone. There is a law in my state for cell phone use...this is a problem. In order to turn off the lock you have to close the phone (hence loose your call, which sucks if you've been on hold for awhile). You also have to be carelful with the navigation wheel, it's pretty happy to keep scrolling instead of going where you want it to go....I'm stuck with this thing unless I want to pay 250.00 for a new phone because I have to wait 2 YEARS for next upgrade. It does get smudges real easily, but you'll get over it after the phone gets real scratchy. I like how you can still operate it while the slide is closed. The camera and video recording is outstanding. Overtime you get over it, and you feel like you want a new one. That's how it is for every phone. Less

I would recommend avoiding it if you are looking for something reliable and not just stylish. Less

Pro: Great battery life, cool-looking, good quality Con: If you're a texter, you may want to look into a phone with a keyboard. First of all, I'm one of those people that counts down the days to the end of her cell phone contract to get a new phone. I was so excited when I got my LG chocolate and that was 2 years ago. I have never liked a phone this much! I have no desire to get a new phone. Out of curiosity, however, I went to a Verizon Store to see what new phones were available, but nothing appealed to me. This phone is well made. It is high quality and when you hold it, it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. I've had it for 2 years and it doesn't even look that worn. I have one little scratch on the front of it from dropping it on jagged concrete a few months ago. Otherwise, it held up very well against the usual wear. The keys don't look worn and I have had no problems with its software. It's a convenient size. The camera is good, but not as good as some of the newer phones. I don't care for a super high quality camera phone... that's what I have my digital camera for. I love the features in this phone: calendar, alarm, calculator, tip calculator, etc. It's got neat ring tones already. You can customize the lighting when the phone is ringing. You can customize the menu (I believe there are 3 choices). Less

I bought this phone because I loved the look of it. I ordered it online without ever going to a store to check it out. The idea of the phone is great. I love Verizon and Verizon's cell service. They are awesome! The phone however, is just OK. I often find it difficult to use and often I push a button and something different happens, then I have to exit and start over. This happens CONSTANTLY. Cool looking phone, but not easy to use. It annoys me a lot! I will never again buy a phone because it's the coolest looking one. I'll head to the store and test it out first!!! I am stuck with it for one more year! Less

The problems with the chocolate are all in design. The touch pad is the root of *most* of this phone's issues. First, it is far too sensitive. It sends text messages before you're finished typing them. It's annoying/frustrating to navigate to the correct menu because it's always taking you somewhere you don't want to go due to the sensitivity. And if you have to press numbers during a call, like when calling your *voice mail* for example, the lock on the touch menu is deactivated and when you put the phone back to your ear, you're navigating all over the place. And also, the mobile web feature constantly comes up when I don't want it, all due to the horribly designed touch screen. (Which I hear isn't really better in the newer models.) Another issue with the touch screen is the camera. It's very nearly impossible to take a picture that isn't blurry because of the touch sensitive buttons. You can't hold the phone steady because of the way it's designed. With a regular phone, you could rest your finger on the button to hold it steady, and then press without much movement of the phone. With this one, there's too much motion! If you try to touch it softly to minimize the blur, it just doesn't take your picture. Another minor quibble/eyesore, is that if you take photos to use as your background, there are huge white bars on the top and bottom. It just doesn't cover the entire screen and looks horrible. I also found the design of the mp3 player pretty worthless. But I did like the volume on the ringer and the alarm. I also liked identifying images for individual callers but that's pretty standard on phones now anyway. Sound quality was *ok* too. But for the most part, this is chocolate covered you-know-what! I have owned 5 different LG phones through Verizon. They all stink but the Chocolate is BY FAR the worst phone I have ever used! We bought it in December, by April I have had to have the battery replaced. It would not hold a charge. Got the battery today - it will hold a charge but it keeps cutting off or flashing "Verizon Wirelss" with no way to stop it. It won't cut off unless I take off the battery. Same old same old. It's always had a weak signal, even if I'm next to a cell phone tower! It just keeps saying, "Verizon Wireless" which I hate also. I've never dropped it or got it wet. I can probably get it replaced but it has messages I've saved, etc. that I can't download. The buttons are too sensitive, the wheel is too small. The only reason I give this phone a star is because it looks good. BIG DEAL! Give me dependable any day! Less
