Darn, there are no reviews yet for this phone.
Ok, it was fine, it was slow, horrible camera, and the T9 was just crap, but either than that it worked as a first phone for me until both screens just blacked out one day so now to the salvagers it goes. It was fine for basics, nothing else.Less
is a good phone but its time for a new one
my mom got this phone in about 2005. i started using it in about 2007. its a great phone. i dropped it in my dogs water dish and it still works. the internet is slow and its very bad for when you record music or dowload ring tones. it takes forever to download pictures. its got a good camera. it still holds its charge. but since i text ALOT and i dowload screensavers, i need to charge it everynight. i like the speaker phone and the voice dialing but i dont use them often. the keys are starting to disappear though. also it can only hold 50 messages in the inbox and 50 in the outbox. if you are looking for a phone for just emergencys its great but not a good phone if you text alot.Less
Was once great , but not anymore
I've had this phone for about 2 years . Up until now it worked great. Battery always help a deep charge, in fact it still does. Battery charge is used up rapidly when the phone is "roaming" , or has to use an analog signal . Now the bad news ......the main LCD display frequently disappears , or turns a foggy blue . ( I've learned other LG6200 owners have had same problem ).Turning the phone on and off does not bring it back . I have to hook it up to the charger ,then turn it off , and then reboot it . Sometimes it works on the first try and sometimes not . Some may say 2 years is pretty good for a phone but I say not when you're on a three year contract . I have a new phone now ( different make and model).Less
Here's an idea, buy a new battery!
All of you complaining about the battery, do you think rechargables last forever? They don't cost that much to replace, so quit acting like babies.Less
I've had this phone for 3 years now. It's still working! I've dropped it countless times and there is no effect on the phone at all. After 3 years, the battery life is not as good as it used to be... I have to charge it every day or two now. I don't talk on this thing very much... maybe 20 min. a day or less. I have used this phone for downloading ringtones, images, pictures, games, sending pictures by email, text messaging, and taking pictures and short videos. The pictures quality is not impressive, but just ok. It does have "flash", which is actually an LED light that can turn on if you go to options and turn it on. The predictive text is ok, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I do use it from time to time. Sometimes there is more than one word for a set of keys and that's frustrating at times. The phone also has voice dialing. You have to press a button on the side of the phone to activate it. I don't really use this feature. The limitations of this phone are no bluetooth, somewhat soft volume for the ringer (missed quite a few calls), and now, weak battery life (par for the course, I guess). I do like the small form factor, but not the antennae that sticks out. Overall, it's been a reliable phone for me for the past 3 years. I will be upgrading to a new phone soon.Less
Simple but Durable. A Great Starter Phone.
I have had my phone for almost two years and overall it's done it's job. It's still performing fairly well even after several drops. The camera is decent for a camera phone, and the flash option is helpful. I have found the battery lasts several days. (Hint: When you buy any product with a battery, allow the battery to die completely. This will allow the battery to last longer) The buttons are very easy to use and spread apart nicely. Reception is average, it is really not any better than any other phone. The sound quality is fairly good. Some of the cons of this phone is you are unableto view picture messages and because there is no USB cable, the pictures are stuck on the phone. I have found the common buttons on the phone, especially the side buttons start to stick or stop working entirely after awhile. Personally, I hate the shortcuts on the phone. You can only change one, the other three are messaging, speaker phone and web browsing. I do not have a web plan, and I always end up hitting the shortcut by mistake, which starts to add up on the bill. Also, I find it always takes two bars to start or recieve a phone call. You also can not search through your contacts by phone numbers, only by name, which can get annoying. I've really had no big issues with this phone. It's a very simple phone, but it does the job. It's a great starter phone for kids, or for adults who don't want a lot of features.Less
good at first.....
i've had this phone for 2 years and like the others i've read, it started out great. i really havent had any problems with the phone itself but now, the battery will not hold a charge. i have to recharge it constantly in order to make calls or use the web. also, i cant receive pics which is stupid. i have to send pics through email or web and it costs money since they dont have a usb cable included. stupid as well. sometimes when i'm playing a game, it freezes or the phone will just shut off altogether. besides these problems, the phone is good. i dont have problems with the keypad or the vibration, or ringtones or the calls themselves. i cant say i have a problem with the camera either. its worked fine for me. its not the worst phone but in the long run, not the best either. i'd say good for the first year otherwise, get something better.Less
Lg is very reliable!
I've had mine for almost 2 years now and out of all the phones I have had this one would have to be the best. Far better than Motorola and Samsung by far. As for the battery life, there are many reasons why it diminishes of time. Leaving it charging when it is clearly fully charged will overheat the battery, and will cause the battery to decay faster. Even if you let you battery fully discharge once every 30 charges or so, this will also save on battery life. If you want your phone to last longer try to understand the technology that your using. Even little things like the vibration on yur phone will drain the battery. Turn off your phone over night, and guaranteed it will last longer. I've had the battery life drain so many times in different models of cell phones. It's not just LG, and I believe that most lg phones are durable and long lasting. A motorola v3 is so flimsy...Anyway before getting a cell phone, don't just think it's going to take care of itself. Look into the model you have and for most models it has the same components in the battery. Main tips are Keep your battery at a cool temperature. Don’t put it near the heater, or anything hot, really. Don’t buy a spare battery. Even if you keep it in the packaging, it can naturally drain. If you do have a spare one already, you should store it in your refrigerator — not freezer — at about a 40 percent charge. Only fully discharge your battery every 30 charges. I know I said it before, but it’s worth repeating. Turn your phone off while charging. This will keep the battery at a more ideal temperature. These are tips I have learnt and live by and my LG is going as strong as ever.Less
Piece of junk
I hate this phone it is a piece of junk. Do not buy it. After about 3 months it stopped sendng text messages. And after almost a year it glitches up. When you close the phone it no longer returns to the front screen, and the menus glitch up. This phone can not download pictures.Less
i've had mine for almost two years now and it sucks for lack of better words, at first it was great, battery life lasted a good couple of days, now the battery barely lasts a day. the display is starting to crap out and the send key for texts barely works and only works when it wants to. if i knew it was gonna be this crappy i woulda stuck with my uber old phone i had with fido...Less
