Right when the LG L1400 was introduced (May 06 or so) my wife and I picked up two mainly because of features and readibility of display. All was right with the world and we experienced none of the problems others site. Recently however, Cingular started pushing to have sim chips changed because of system features that the old sim chips wouldn't support. Now as a result, when the phone rings and we don't answer, and they leave a voice mail, we only get an audible and visual alert that we missed a call. BUT we don't get one single warning that we have received voice mails. This is causing a huge problem because my wife is in real estate and often is away from her desk where her phone stays while she meets with clients in the company conference room. This causes her to receive voice mails she doesn't know exist. Now when she calls the voice mail number, the calls are there but no alert is passed to the phone. I don't use the phone for business, but I am experiencing exactly the same problem. So, I find it really strange that both phones are experiencing the exact same problem, which only occurred after Cingular pushed for use of new sim cards. ATT is essentially telling us to pound sand that their system is not at fault and tell us to throw away two phones that cost $150 ea 14 months ago. Am looking for suggestions. ATT insists there is nothing wrong with their system and LG says there has to be. Feel free to email me at c4791p@yahoo.com if you can suggest any solutions. Chuck Less

Wish I had another

This is one of the best user friendly phones out there. Mine is about to die and I just don't know what to do. I am sure going to miss it. Tina Orlando, FL

A faithful phone

The 1400i is certainly not flashy, especially compared to alot of the newer phones, but it gets the job done. It's a resilient phone and it's easy to use. I just replaced mine after about a year and a half of use, although I probably didn't need to. It's dinged up on the outside from dropping it countless times, but everything still works great. The only real down side is the camera stinks, so if you're looking for a great camera phone this isn't it, but it's definitely a durable phone that will last and give you plenty of use. Less

i miss this phone

After a year and a half this phone finally crapped out on me. I have used it to the max and dropped it at least daily. I just bought a new phone today and it totally sucks. Bought a 2nd phone because I liked it so much!

I got the LG with a Cingular contract and had some trouble until the correct tech resets were up and running. I was told it was an ATT to Cingular problem. After that, I promptly lost the phone! I got the LG with a Cingular contract and had some trouble until the correct tech resets were up and running. I was told it was an ATT to Cingular problem. After that, I promptly lost the phone! I ordered the replacement phone with the insurance plan and had no trouble with phone #2. In fact, I was adding my son to my contract who has a RAZR and elected to get yet another LG phone (free) just in case anything happened to mine again. There were several to choose from but this is the one I picked. I have since had the phone unlocked and am using it with T-Mobile...still no trouble. When it eventually dies, I will DEFINITELY purchase another LG. Less

nice phone

The only complaint I have is the battery does not last all that long when you use the phone alot. Other than that it is a great device, easy to use and easy to carry.

If it sucks, its probably your provider

I've had the phone for the last few days, it only seems to get fuzz in basement and near electronics, Ive had a few txts go missing and never make it, but thats any network, Ive never had a phone where everyone of my txts got to someone. I've had the phone for the last few days, it only seems to get fuzz in basement and near electronics, Ive had a few txts go missing and never make it, but thats any network, Ive never had a phone where everyone of my txts got to someone. The text messaging portion of the networks were never set up right. Sure it could use features like video or a themes feature, but who needs those, what happened to when phones were for just talking, a camera is alot more than nothing, so suck it up. I do agree that it could use a louder speaker, and maybe a speakerphone, other than that I have no complaints with the phone or the provider, and I'm with FIDO and I usually hate them, Im quite pleased so far, with this phone and the last. I''ve been using this phone for at least eight months, and I''ve had very few product-related problems. Most negative reviews I''ve read are provider-related (or so it seems). As an engineering undergrad with a respectable understanding of consumer products, I feel that this phone is worthy of respect compared to the majority of the North American cell phone market. My first cell phone was Japanese production, which totally spoiled me. However, having used the LG1400 for a lengthy enough period, I''ve had very little issues with the phone altogether. Good reception (but mainly provider dependent), decent features (although limited compared to network capacities these days - like most NA phones) -- I did crack the screen within sixth months, but I''ve had no problems save a crack-line across the shell screen which doesn''t bother me -- overall I''d say this phone has been worth the cost. My next phone will probably not be LG, though, as they seem limited to the lower end (although majority) of the NA market share. I want a high performance phone for my next one -- MP3, hihg MPX camera phone, etc. Overall, I say this phone is easily worthy of first-time purchase (as it was for me on the NA market). Be sure to check your provider capacity, though. Pick a good provider - don''t judge the phone for failures of your network. Less

i bought this phone in july to replace a stolen one and in december i started having problems with it. it kept dropping calls and the reception was really bad even though i was in an area which normally has good reception. they sent me a replacement phone and it had good reception but i couldnt see anything on the display screen. so i had to send that one back. also the battery on this phone is really weak and needs to be recharged constantly. i would not recommend this phone to anyone unless they really like talking to customer service.
