The LG 101 is a straightforward CDMA candybar that offers a 1.5 inch, 262 x 144 pixel resolution display, text, email and IM capability, along with a web browser, speakerphone and a suite of very basic features.
But clearly, this phone is built for phone calls and, as for email and web browsing, there are obviously better options. When discussing “web browsing” in the context of these kinds of phones, it’s hardly more than a means to download ringtones. While there’s nothing wrong with that, we point it out in case an unwitting customer thinks they are going to enjoy a genuine web experience.
Entry-level phones like the LG 101 still occupy an important place in the market, especially for folks who just need a way to connect on the go. Measured as such, the benchmarks for a phone like this are call quality and build materials, and in both cases the LG 101 does fine.
With a talk time of up to 3.5 hours and a standby time of up to 200 hours, the LG 101 is a quality no frills phone.
