I'm stunned that this company was ever considered to have good customer service. I have had this phone for two days and am already returning it. I have five major complaints about my experience with this Virgin Mobile phone. 1. If you buy this phone and intend to listen to music on it, you MUST purchase a $20 usb cable (they no longer include that OR a memory card with the phone). I wish they had told me this before purchasing because I could have saved the extra $7 shipping cost by purchasing it with the phone. Also, do NOT believe it when they tell you that you can purchase the usb cable from Radio Shack. I tried several different stores in my area, including Best Buy, and they all told me the same thing: you must purchase this usb cable directly from Virgin Mobile or Kyocera. 2. Also, don't believe it when they tell you that you can bypass the need for the usb cable if you have a memory card reader. I was told by customer service that, once the memory card was formatted, I could simply take it out of the phone, plug it into my card reader (which is plugged into my computer) and then transfer the mp3 files directly to the card. But this is NOT true. My computer had no problem reading the memory card, but after it was formatted for use in the phone, suddenly EVERY SONG I TRIED TO TRANSFER TO IT GOT AN ERROR SAYING THAT IT COULD NOT BE COPIED BECAUSE IT IS COPYRIGHT PROTECTED! That is absolute baloney! I have transferred music this way to BOTH of the previous mp3 players that I have owned, and also never have any problem with burning mp3's to CD when I want to make a mix CD to play in my car. Worse yet, when I spoke to the supervisor there, he had the unmitigated audacity to tell me that I need to reinstall Windows Media Player AND re-rip all of my CD's (yeah, like that's going to happen since I have about 500) in order to be able to use them on this phone. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY INSANE! Not to mention impossible. I checked with Windows Media Player, and THERE IS NO WAY TO DO THIS! In my opinion, this is just another cheap ploy by VM to force you to download music from their website in the same way that they force you to transfer pictures to their website (at 25 cents each) instead of allowing you to directly transfer them to your computer. I have never heard anywhere of Windows Media Player adding a copyright protection to mp3 files when you rip them from CD, which would make it impossible to transfer them to an mp3 player. And I got this same message on all 20 different music files I tried to add to the memory card! 3. Customer service was a NIGHTMARE. The first woman I called cut me off after 10 minutes on hold. The second guy was outright rude and REFUSED to transfer me to a supervisor. Finally I told him that if he did not, I would call back and report him. He STILL refused, so that is exactly what I did. When I finally reached a supervisor, he was clueless and unable to resolve the problem, so I returned the phone. 4. Not only can one not transfer pictures directly to the computer from this phone (which I only learned from reading the reviews here at Amazon), but they are of extremely low quality and very grainy. You're so much better off getting a less expensive phone and buying a camera separately. Even a cheap, 3MP camera will have MUCH better pictures than this phone has. 5. The phone holder they sold me for $14.99 which is specifically designed for the Slider Sonic DID NOT FIT IT! I had to stretch and pull it for several minutes just to get it on the phone and even then, none of the holes lined up where they were supposed to. Maybe this company was known for customer satisfaction a couple of years ago, but with practices and products like these, I'm amazed they're still in business. I certainly will never again consider doing business with them. Less

TO start this off, this phone is GREAT! * Pictures are really good quality for a phone plus you can zoom in on them to get a better view if you set your settings correctly * The Speaker is really loud, its amazing, i always get compliments on the sound quality and volume of my phone, people with sidekicks and samsung phones even get jealous * Videos are good quality for a phone, they're great * Battery life is great! I turn it on at 8 in the morning, I play my music full volume for at least an hour or 2 a day, i talk for maybe 10 minutes a day on it, and play random videos, and the phone doesnt die, it lasts me all day, and goes on low battery when i am already home at night. * I bought a 1 gigabyte memory card off of Ebay for 15 dollars, so i am able to store alot of music and videos on it. Some things that could be better... * When you add music, sometimes it doesnt show up, and that is easily fixed by just plugging it in again and changing the name of the file/song * The phone can only take 30 second video clips at a time * MP3s cant be used as ringtones * The flash is almost useless Overall though, this phone is amazing, and i wouldn't trade it for any other. The Virgin mobile plan i have for it works great for me, im in L.A. so I have 5 bars everywhere, and customer service helped me with getting my phone setup very fast. The online account is also very easy to use. I would recommend this phone to ANYONE who needs a prepaid phone and wants a fancy phone that does not cost alot or does not want to get stuck with contracts. Thank you virgin mobile, keep up the good work. Less

Great phone

Pro: Music player, slider functionality, huge screen Con: The only thing I could think of that I semi-disliked was the charger. Bulky, and the cord was very stiff and not plyable I will have this phone for a very long time. It has everything I need. Kudos to Kyocera for the development of the Slider Sonic.

Picture transfer workaround...

1) Take a picture. 2) Switch to video mode and take a short video of the same subject. 3) Pull the video off the phone and onto your computer using the USB cable. 4) Use the 'Export Frame' feature in the 'EDIT' portion of an application like "AVS Video Converter" (a free download - Google it) and save...More

Now you have a pic on your phone a similar one that you can save/email/whatever without paying the Virgin transfer fee. Less

When you slide open the phone, the screen screws up and is really wavey looking. You can't even read anything. Rarely this doesn't happen. And even sometimes the screen stays like that when you close the phone again. I wouldn't recommend this phone for that reason. It's very frustrating. And the side volume buttons aren't much to my liking either. When you slide it into a case that isn't made specifically for it, it pushes the volume all the way down to silent call. It's a great phone, but not without it's big screen glitch. Less

This is a good phone and it does a lot of things I just wished it was smaller and that the sound on the MP3 player was louder when using headphones
