Huawei Honor 9X

“The 9X is a decent smartphone but not the best you can buy for its asking price. And unless it's discounted, we won't recommend it over the phones we mentioned above. But even then - until it gets an all-clear from Google in some way - we'd still have our doubts about its future.”

“While the Honor 9X and P Smart Z both launched at around 300 Euros (~$331), the latter can now be had for almost 100 Euros (~$110) off its retail price. Had the two devices launched simultaneously, then it may have been harder to choose between them. However, a slightly better primary camera and faster storage hardly justify spending one-third more for essentially the same device.”

“All things considered, particularly the glaring omission of NFC, it’s hard to see the 9X making too many waves as it becomes available across more of Europe. That Honor has managed to launch a phone in these parts with Google apps at all is an achievement, however. It might be the last one we see for a little while, and that’s a real shame given the impressive hardware Huawei and its sub-brand is capable of.”

“The Honor 9X is a solid all-rounder that will satisfy most people's needs. The high-resolution camera produces good images, performance is strong, and the battery life exceptional. But until the Android ban is resolved, Trusted Reviews can't recommend the device.”
