Android Authority

Flagship specs and dual cameras for less than you might expect

from Android Authority
The Honor 9 certainly ticks a lot of the right boxes: great performance, dual cameras, sleek design, and an IR blaster! The only downsides are the lack of toughened glass over the display and the slippery nature of the build materials. The software offers some good extra features and the ability to enable an app drawer should help EMUI find greater acceptance in the West. Overall I would say if you are looking for a high-end device but you can’t quite afford the price of the Huawei P10 or the Mate 9, then you should certainly think seriously about getting an Honor 9... A refreshingly good deal

from TrustedReviews
The Honor 9 isn’t a world apart from the Honor 8, but is does have a more attractive design, a somewhat-improved camera and double the storage. Changes made to Emotion UI also make it less polarising, as it can now be made to feel a lot more like ‘normal’ Android. It’s enough to turn this range's fortunes around. The Honor 8 was a fair buy, the Honor 9 is about the best you’ll find at the price... Full review

A mid-range marvel

from Pocket-lint
The Honor 9 is a siren in the mid-range phone market. Its eye-catching design is paired with highly capable performance for a price point that, in the context of 2017, undercuts the OnePlus 5 by a sizeable enough margin to leave the Honor in a field of its own. As a logical progression, the Honor 9 makes a stack of sense. For Huawei, however, we can't quite grasp why the parent company would undercut its own P10 model in such clear fashion. But from a consumer point of view that doesn't matter: the Honor is the better phone, not just on account of price... Full review

Budget champ

from Android Central
The Honor 9 is a fantastic affordable flagship with a beautiful design, fast performance and dependable all-day battery life. At this price point, the biggest thing you'll miss from more expensive handsets is a reliable low-light camera... Full review
GSMArena

A well-executed project

from GSMArena

The Honor 9 can certainly feel a bit rough around the edges, but that's strictly figurately speaking. It's one of the most slippery phones there are but this is offset by the stunning looks. We noticed some performance throttling but in real life it will probably go unnoticed thanks to the snappy chipset, which has plenty of reserves. The camera has a few gimmicky sides, but it delivers right where it's important. The Honor 9 may not be a flagship killer but it's certainly flagship-grade. It may not be getting the attention it deserves but it will remain a solid recommendation in our b... Full review

Recombu

Watch out, OnePlus

from Recombu
The Honor 9 is a great-value handset that offers a similar flagship experience to most other premium phones, yet with a greatly reduced asking price. Sure, you don’t get any jazzy HDR visuals or a ridiculously sharp Quad HD screen - and most users won’t even notice. They’ll be too content with the slick software, lovable design, smooth performance and dependable battery life... Full review
Tech Advisor

Angling to be one of the best mid-range phones on the market this year

from Tech Advisor
The Honor 9 is an undeniably impressive phone for an unmatched price right now. In performance terms, it's nipping at the heels of the year's top flagships, and only lacking flashy features like waterproofing or a bezel-less screen. It looks great, it runs fast, and it costs less than £400. We're sold... Full review
