Huawei has built a name around making quality devices at affordable prices. The Honor 3C follows their successful formula, adding yet another entry into the already competitive budget smartphone market. Does it have the chops to compete with the offerings of big name phones? We’ll see what the reviews have discovered!

With a plastic glossy case and removable back, the phone’s specs list it as quite light and thin. Sometimes, this means a phone will feel cheap or hollow. In the case of the 3C, reviews all agreed that the phone felt great in the hand. TechRadar says it “feels a lot more premium than you'd expect” and Fone Arena called the handset “resoundingly solid.”

The front of the device is filled with a 5-inch 1280-by-720 IPS screen. While the resolution is certainly standard or average for many phones in its bracket, reviews of the color and contrast were outstanding. Fone Arena noted that it was “very good in terms of contrast ratio and brightness levels.” Software controls on the phone also allow you to set the color temperature and tweak other settings than many higher priced devices don’t allow.

A quad-core MediaTek 1.3GHz processor with 2GB of RAM earns good reviews for the 3C in terms of performance. While it is far from the most powerful processor on the market, Huawei has optimized the software on the phone to make the most of its specs. TechRadar declared that it has “enough guts to work through social media, video, music and games without too much drama.”

If you frequently travel, or plan to use your phone for business, you’ll find dual SIM support a welcome addition. However, lack of 4G support will limit your network options.

Like many other choices in the budget market, the Honor 3C is equipped with an 8MP rear camera with flash and 5MP front-facing selfie camera. While reviews found the cameras to be adequate, none were particularly impressed either. Fone Arena found that “photos in less than ideal conditions appear a bit washed and exhibit noise.”

8GB of internal storage offers a respectable amount of room for apps, pictures and music. However, you might find yourself looking for a little more storage space unless you rely on cloud storage for movies or other larger files. Fortunately, the handset supports microSD cards for cheap and simple storage expansion.

Overall, reviews of the Honor 3C are positive. While it is similar to a number of competing handsets, it offers a respectable price and outstanding build quality. Fone Arena called it “a formidable offering” and TechRadar found it “enough to meet the demands of most casual users.”

The performance offered by the s...

The Honor 3C is, without doubt, the most impressive entry-level smartphone at present. Its overall performance would have certainly benefited from 4G, but if you can live without it, you needn't think twice. Even though it isn't free from fault, it fares better than most of the competitors in its pr...

The Honor 3C is actually a year old. It was announced in December 2013 for the Chinese market, but for some reason it look a year to make it to UK shops. This dated-ness shows in some respects. The UK version doesn’t have 4G, and it runs an old version of Android with a custom interface taped o...

Huawei has done an admirable job with the software and hardware combination on the Honor 3c. Despite not being a very new handset, it is most certainly a formidable offering. The LTPS display, camera, software and battery life in general standout on the device. What we’re not huge fans of was t...
