The big claim to fame for the thin, but larger, BlackBerry 8830 is that it can be used throughout Europe. For you stuffy Globetrotters who need the best in phone technology, you’ll appreciate the 2.5 inch, 320 x 240 pixel display and the now iconic full and fully contoured QWERTY keypad.
Quite frankly, the big selling point of this particular BlackBerry is its dual-mode functionality, the ability to switch between CDMA and GSM, an issue relevant only when one travels internationally.
For the rest of you, you’ll find that other BlackBerry phones offer far more in features and functionality, such as the absent camera on this device, and a smaller overall phone footprint. That said, the 8830 comes with BlackBerry maps, media player, organizer, document viewer, voice dial, speakerphone and other mid-range features.
Clearly, this BlackBerry is trying to fill a niche for perhaps military and international travelers, but offering little incentive for the general consumer.
