Basic Indestructable Cellphone.
I got this as a present from my dad 5 years and it still hasn't broken. I've dropped it so many times and it at the most it's only gotten scratched a bit and the battery fallen out. Still works exactly the way it did when I bought it. It's great if you only use your phone for random talking and texting, a pretty useful prepaid phone. Also an effective alarm clock, especially if you use the 3 times after 5 minutes setting on the loudest volume. A few cons over the years though: The battery heats up if you're storing it close to you, but it still works fine. Text messages sometimes take a while time to send and receive. Reception is a getting to be a problem too - the older it gets, the harder it is the find a good signal. Now that I'm in university it's harder to get a signal on campus, I end up seeing the no signal screen in most of my classes, and it might be attributed to the phone's age since there's a bell tower close by. Should be decent reception. I also don't like how if there is no signal, there is no time on the LCD window on the front.Less
Had this phone for almost 4 years until it finally broke because the charging pin came loose. I could toss this phone all over the place and it would bounce right back, not flimsy like these new ones. Cant do anything with it except make calls and text but what else would you need to do? Great phone and did me well despite being ugly as hell.Less
This phone is just terrible, to the point that it's almost laughable. It gets terrible reception, the battery is just awful and, believe it or not, the phone is actually a liar. It has no real idea of how much battery life if left so it goes ahead and tells you everything is fine... then within minutes (and not having talked on it at all) it just dies. Just ringing drains its battery... It's kind of sad.Less
A very basic, mediocre phone
I'm a college student who has had this phone for years now. I rarely use it, but i think its time for a change. It has horrible battery life. If you always leave it on, you have to charge it every other day. However, it will last for a good week or two if you always have it off. The ringtones sound extremely cheap. I've had more than one person tell me that it sounds like cheap video game music from the early 90s. It only has one decent ring and that's 'jingle' which sounds like a normal ringing phone. If you want to add ringtones, be prepared to shell out a couple of dollars to do it. Even if i did not have a problem with the ringtones, i would have a problem with the volume. It is much too low. I've been in many situations where i've had the volume on max, the vibrate on high, and the phone in my purse and no one including myself heard it go off (I did feel it). I guess as long as you are in a relatively quiet place you'll probably hear it. Just don't surround your self with people who like to talk. So, do i have anything good to say about this phone? Yes, its really reliable. As long as you have a charge on it, it'll rarely let you down. I've had very few dropped calls, and i've nearly always been able to pick up a signal despite the fact that i live in a rural area. If you JUST need a phone for a couple of calls a month or for emergencies this would be a good choice.Less
Good Phone for a PrePaid
This was a temp phone, while we got settled to our new move and new phone plan...served its purpose, loud ring tone and easy to top up onlineLess
Its a TANK
I've had this phone for the last 3 years, my contract has just expired. Let me just say that this phone is an absolute tank. Mine fell out of my pockets, i dropped it from heights and the most damage that happened was a few scratches. Its a good phone if you want something just simple. No camera, no bluetooth, simple ringtones and very easy to use. However, I felt that within a year of getting the phone it already felt obselete. Overall, a good phoneLess
Terrible Battery Life
If you don't use the phone, you'll have to charge it every other day. If you talk on it, even just a little bit, it will go dead in about 2 hours. Reception on the phone is so-so.Less
First of all, my 8610 has what I would call barely passing qualities. It only works in high density population areas, goes out underground, and is very hard to hear conversations with. The main reason I am writing this is the dishonest service I have gotten from Virgin Mobile. They added an extra service to it, "Joke of the Day", without me giving the OK, and charged me for it. I hadn't used my phone in a week and discovered all of these "Jokes of the Day", and a with a message from Virgin, a week ago, telling me they were starting the "Joke" service, with payment, unless I indicated not to. I feel that I should be given the choice of saying "Yes" or "No" before the service is started. Well, the "Joke" is on them, I'll be dropping them and looking for someone more honest and reliable. Also, I know someone else who had Virgin pull a similar stunt on. the person stopped the 'extra' service, and later on, VIrgin started it up again, without notifying them.Less
VERY HOT PHONE!
Pro: Comfy size. Easy to manage. Great color screen. Not overloaded with features and just enough for daily use. Con: It overheats very quickly. I had to buy a "hands free" as to not burn my ears!! Using experience: 3 days They need to fix the overheating on the phone. Overall a great cell phone! For the person who is asking about the "little flap on the top"---It is for the hands free cable plug. NZ PUERTO RICOLess
