Isn't the camera phone of your dreams

from Digital Trends
For the price, the Zenfone Zoom certainly gets the job done without any stutters and hiccups. Its performance is comparable to the Moto G (2015), the Nexus 5X, and many other leading smartphones in its tier. We just can’t recommend it because it sorely lacks any style in its user interface and design; not to mention, the camera just isn’t good enough... Full review

An experiment worth appreciating

from The Mobile Indian
The Asus ZenFone Zoom has a premium price tag of Rs 37,999 which is may not go well with a lot of people as having an optical zoom is not a necessity in the phone. It terms of experimentation, Asus has done a decent job with ZenFone Zoom but there are miles to cover before they stop. The battery department needs a serious relook and UI needs to be freed of the clutter... Full review

Slick design, thoughtful button placement, some neat ZenUI features

from TechRadar
If optical zoom in a smartphone appeals to you, your options are limited. At that, the Asus ZenFone Zoom is currently your best bet. There are a few more reasons to enjoy this souped-up camera phone, but with it, also come some frustrating design choices that get in the way of a breezy user experience... Full review

Practical build quality with premium materials

from Pocketnow
We want to reward daring design. We want to celebrate when companies take risks. The ZenFone Zoom is an incredible feat of camera design, but the crown jewel feature of this phone in many ways compromises the camera that the zoom lens is supposed to enhance. That unfortunately becomes the end of the review. When a company places so much responsibility on one feature, it’s exceedingly difficult to ignore that feature for any kind of objective comparison with other phones. It’s the ZenFone Zoom, we can’t rightfully say “but ignoring the camera…”... Full review

Groundbreaking camera, iffy performance

from Cnet
The Asus ZenFone Zoom puts cool new camera tech to work, but its bloated software and poor overall performance keep it from being a phone you'd want to buy... Full review

Clearing up the view ahead

from Android Guys

When I reflect on everything that the ZenFone Zoom offers and then recall its asking price of $399, I can’t help but think that the value is great. I could most definitely replace my daily driver flagship phone (which costs almost twice as much) and not regret it. That’s where the ZenFone line has the upper-hand, and the 3x optical zoom is icing that you won’t get on most cakes out there. As long as your expectations aren’t sky-high, the ZenFone Zoom is definitely recommendable. I just emphasize that the camera’s general performance is good but not the best you... Full review

Sluggish camera app, unimpressive battery life

from PC Magazine
The Asus ZenFone Zoom is a camera-centric unlocked phone with a 3x optical zoom, but it's held back by average sensor quality, a slow camera app, and no 4K video recording... Full review

A little too late

The Indian Express

It fails to deliver a stellar battery and the camera UI is confusing at best

from The Indian Express
If you want a phone which lets you focus from afar on an object, the Asus Zenfone Zoom is currently the only option in the market. Given the pricing, Asus automatically ends up jumping into the big league where the standards are really high. If you’re a user with money to spend on a smartphone, Zenfone Zoom is trying something different, although the results are definitely not perfect. -.. Full review

Optical zoom impresses

from Tom's Guide
The ZenFone Zoom's unique optical zoom stands out from the crowd, and you get a lot of storage for the money, but this handset's short battery life and excessive bloatware hold it back... Full review
