Archos 50 Platinum

“The Archos 50 Platinum pushes the boundaries of its price point and takes dual-SIM phones in a new, entertaining direction. It is still plagued by nagging issues though. It is hard to look past the low quality screen and the battery life is a bit of a stinker. Overall if you can do without dual-SIM we suggest you turn your attentions elsewhere.”

“We have genuine love for the Archos 50 Platinum. It's a simple phone, without much customisation, but that will be a draw for many. We found that, despite its decent spec, it can feel a bit slow and unresponsive. It's not a big deal, but this phone doesn't feel like a high-end device, despite its processor and decent RAM allocation. But it's also priced incredibly well, has a nice screen and handsome styling. The dual-SIM functionality is great to have, although it could be better implemented - but it's sure to be useful for those who travel a lot, or who have business and personal numbers they want to keep separate, but don't want two devices for.”

“It’s a real shame that the Archos 50 Platinum is something of a flawed gem, but the problem is that those flaws are really very glaring indeed. That’s because they’re concentrated around the general performance and reliability which is so fundamental to the day-to-day experience of the phone. It’s of little consequence that the display and camera are quite good, or that you’re treated to stock Android, because chances are you won’t be able to enjoy them as you battle with the handset’s unpredictable behaviour.”
