Hi lata. Contact the carrier it is lock with and ask if you're phone is eligible for unlocking. If you are, depending on the carrier, you will have to pay a certain amount.

Check if anything is blocking the mic. Otherwise, take it to a service center for repairs.

Hello. Have just found out the answer from a smart phone user so I can answer my own question. It seems you do not just push the button at the top rhs but you have to hold it down and a list of actions appear which includes turn off. Which only leaves me wonder why would you send out a phone without endless instructions but now say how to turn it off?

Hi jennifer. No need to turn off, you can simply just put your phone in airplane mode. Touch and drag down the status bar and tap Quick settings bar (found on the upper right side), tap Airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off all wireless connections on your phone, this way you can use other apps while on the plane. To turn off airplane mode, simply repeat the steps.
