Who Eastlink is
Eastlink is the brand of Bragg Communications, a Canadian family-owned company based in Halifax that also sells home internet and TV. Its mobile service has reached Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and parts of Ontario and Alberta. Eastlink sells monthly plans, and you can sign up online or at Eastlink stores.
Network and coverage
Eastlink runs its own mobile network and uses partner networks for coverage elsewhere in Canada. It has launched 5G in Nova Scotia and recently upgraded its core network, but 5G isn’t everywhere yet. On unlimited plans, data slows to a very low speed once your full-speed allowance runs out. Since Eastlink’s own coverage is regional, check its map for the places you spend time.
How pricing works
Eastlink cell phone plans run from talk and text to unlimited data, with rollover data and Canada-US-Mexico options. Paying by pre-authorized credit card or bank account earns a monthly discount on eligible plans. Taxes and 9-1-1 fees are extra. easyTab Flex spreads a new phone over 24 months on approved credit. There’s no price lock, and promotional terms let your price rise.
Who it suits
Eastlink suits people in its home regions who want a local carrier with its own network and stores, and who’d rather deal with a regional company than a national one. Daily roaming in the US and many other countries helps if you travel. It suits you less if you want prepaid or a price that’s guaranteed. Compare Eastlink with the national carriers below before you decide.
I appreciate your information. Wish I'd had this knowledge the end of July. Too little, too late I am sorry to say. I spent $80 to purchase the Zte not two weeks ago. It is not much of a phone in my opinion. Not interested in any contract - pay as you go only. And right now $120 plus taxes is just immensely irritating after all the hassle of the past three weeks. Eastlink should have had this information available at your stores at the beginning of August and I very likely would have kept our phone service with Eastlink. Thanks again, Carl. Not very happy with any of the cell phone companies right now.
