From slider to flip, the latest incarnation of the extremely popular LG Chocolate, the Chocolate 3 / GiG, has moved further in the direction of its intended audience.
The new Chocolate boasts an FM radio, 3.5mm headset jack and an improved camera, three features that are clear 'builds' on prior versions of this device.
While some reviewers have criticized the sub-par browser, I believe LG has a firm grasp on their target demographic and has decided that making a music phone a better music phone is better than finding ways for teenagers to access the New York Times. Call me crazy.
The new Chocolate supports 8GB microSDHC cards so you’ll have no problem with those monster road trip playlists. The external screen allows you to view text messages without having to flip open the phone, and provides access to your music and camera.
A charming minimalist look clearly dominates the exterior, with the display on top and an improved navigation wheel just below.
Inside you’ll find a two-tone alphanumeric keypad which is on the slippery side, unfortunately, and navigation controls just above.
Overall it’s an overhaul, and though it bears little resemblance to earlier iterations, the Chocolate 3 will no doubt be scooped up by many savvy, teenage music fans.
