A headphone symbol came on the phone this morning stopping me from receiving and making calls. The recipient can hear me but I can't hear them. I have never used headphones on the phone and cannot disable it. Help
sucking the air out of the headphone part worked immediately..........Many thanks for that.
Same problem. Tried restarting d phn..removing the battery. At last sucked some air out from d headphone socket and the icon went away
this is not spam! Try watching this video about an app thats called "soundabout", only thing that worked on Samsung Grand Neo

I had same problem. I first rebooted. Then I saw I had a software update that took around 30 or 45 minutes to compete. Still had headphone mode on. Took battery out and back in. Still nothing. Then about 5 minutes later everything went back to normal. I'm afraid it will happen again and I really don't know what I did to fix it.
Tried all the above. Not worked. Now notification volume refuse to move so silent!!!!!

1. plug the headphone into phone.
2. turn off phone
3. plug out the headphone
4. remove battery
5. wait for few seconds(10)
6. put the battery in
7. start the phone as normally..

Yesterday a friends S4 had the problem. Plugged in head phones didn't work. Restart didn't work. Removed battery worked. BUT today my S4 is doing it. And I have a water proof cover. Something is arbitrarily setting it off. Haven't figured out what yet.
20 mile round trip to the Carphone Warehouse was a waste of time. Most unhelpful and told me to go to Geek Squad in Canterbury. Another 2o mile round trip. Fortunately I found the Informr site and your answer. Initially it didn't work but I found the phone worked with the headphones in, so I left them in for a few minutes and yippee the headphone symbol vanished when I took the jack out. Probably something nasty in the nefarious depths of my bag had got in the jack hole!

I have the same problem.... but I've alreadyt tried the suggested solution without success. I've also tried switching on, then off, bluetooth and airplane mode.
Any other suggestions?
Hi there. Try plugging headphones in for a few seconds, then remove it. Or simply remove your battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinstall it again.
Let me know how it goes.
