Any charge for over data plan usage?

If we go over our data plan usage during the month, will we be charged, how much per gig, or, can we have the option to not be able to go over the amount allowed on our data plan?

Hi Marianne. I think what you're looking for is an anti-bill shock. Unfortunately, I don't think Cityfone has it. If you're using a smartphone, it has a feature to warn you if you're nearly on your data allocation.

On Android

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Mobile Data (or Data Usage, this may vary depending on your phone, you can tell me your phone to be more precise)
  3. Turn on Mobile data (again, this may vary depending on your phone) or check for Limit Mobile data usage
  4. On the graph below that, there should be a bar you can adjust to warn you when you reach a specific amount of data

On iPhone, I don't think it has the same feature, an app should help. A few that I found that can help is:

  1. DataMan (Link)
  2. My Data Manager VPN Security (Link)

There are more on app store so I highly suggest trying a few to see which fits your needs best.

Also, please check Fido plans most of their data plans have Data Overage Protection. This means Access to data will be paused until the end of your current billing cycle, or you have the option to purchase more data.
