HTC has announced HTC One Google Edition and said that the device will be sold for $599 at the Google Play Store starting on June 26. The device will have the innards of the HTC One but won't have the Sense 5 user interface. Like the Nexus tablets and smartphones being sold by Google, the device will offer a pure Android experience with its vanilla or stock Android software. While Google Play is available in most countries, the HTC One Google Edition will be exclusive to the U.S.
What Else You Need To Know
- The HTC One features a 4-MP "ultrapixel" camera that gathers 300 percent more light, a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz, and a Sense 5.0 interface over the Android 4.1 operating system.
- The HTC One Google Edition will likely have limited availability as the original HTC One has been plagued with supply issues.
- Rival Samsung recently announced a Galaxy S4 Google Edition.
