Do You Have An iPhone 5 With A Broken Power Button? Apple May Fix It...For Free
Mobile Crunch

Apple has launched a new program that will replace defective power/sleep/wake buttons on some iPhone 5's. The program went live today in Canada and the U.S. and is set to become available in other countries starting on May 2nd.

If you're an iPhone 5 owner with power button problems, you can use a newly created page on Apple’s support site to determine if your phone is eligible for repair.

What Else You Need To Know

  • Apple says a "small percentage" of units manufactured before March 2013 are affected.
  • There are two ways to get your sleep/wake button fixed: bring it into to an Apple Store or authorized service provider or mail it in for free.
  • Repair can take up to a week to be completed if sent in to a Apple Repair Center.
  • Under the program, Apple will replace your button, even if your phone's warranty has expired.
