The new Blackberry Curve 9330 is the offspring of consumer suggestions and technological innovations deriving from the 8530, a popular Blackberry model. The new 9330 has an updated QWERTY keyboard and new shell, and is the perfect model for a consumer looking for a basic, low-expense smartphone. Its small size, about four inches tall and two inches wide, makes it uniquely portable and convenient, but the buttons are standard size for a Blackberry and feature a finger-friendly shape to keep use easy.
Although the display is a mere 320x240 pixels, it is adequate for most media needs. The camera is a 2 megapixel, and performs about as well as other comparable cell phone cameras. Despite the low visual specs, the excellent sound quality more than makes up for them. The 9330 Curve marketed itself as a more music-friendly phone, and the speakers and audio capability have certainly lived up to their calling. The phone features dedicated media buttons, including play, pause, and track skips. It also features a headphone jack, and its volume setting has a very wide range.
The 9330 has exceptional reception in even some of the most difficult-to-reach places, and does a wonderful job of delivering calls and messages promptly. Some users have noted that the phone has some oddities in its text messaging user interface, however. The data service for the newest child of the Curve line is above-average, easily keeping up with the most efficient competition.
Additionally, the battery life is very good, allowing the constant use of a bluetooth headset for almost two full days before needing a recharge. The user interface and menu are also very intuitive and easy to use.
Overall, the Blackberry Curve 9330 serves excellently in almost every capacity; its functionality purely as a phone is standard, and it has excellent reception and audio capabilities. It is lacking somewhat in screen quality, making it less ideal for music videos and some applications, but it has ideal capabilities for a basic, entry-level smartphone.
